A recurring theme is the debate about whether or not the president can reschedule cannabis unilaterally or not. It was touched upon in several threads recently. Let's put it to rest. The Attorney General has the authority to reschedule any substance or to even add or remove any substance altogether. The AG follows orders from the president and therefore the president can indeed reschedule cannabis without an act of congress.

The Attorney General shall apply the provisions of this subchapter to the controlled substances listed in the schedules established by section 812 of this title and to any other drug or other substance added to such schedules under this subchapter. Except as provided in subsections (d) and (e) of this section, the Attorney General may by rule—

(1) add to such a schedule or transfer between such schedules any drug or other substance if he—

(A) finds that such drug or other substance has a potential for abuse, and

(B) makes with respect to such drug or other substance the findings prescribed by subsection (b) of section 812 of this title for the schedule in which such drug is to be placed; or

(2) remove any drug or other substance from the schedules if he finds that the drug or other substance does not meet the requirements for inclusion in any schedule.

So we currently have an AG who is kinda chomping at the bit to enforce federal MJ laws and a field of potential leash holders who wouldn't mind unleashing her.

I will concede that no current or former president would want legalization to be his legacy.
 
Obama has been a staunch prohibitionist since he's been President.

He's not really a plantation owner though, more like a well dressed overseer for the real plantation owners.

You're a racist cop and shouldn't even be posting on a pot growing site. Seriously, you should just hang yourself. It is obvious you're just desperate to criticize Obama for anything you can, but most of us here with any sense appreciate the progress he has allowed.

Obama is about as good as GWB. They are both truly awful, each in their own way.

We have international treaties we have agreed to on Cannabis.
No the president cannot wave a magic wand and legalize weed
There are other factors as well
 
Telling the attorney general to do something is not waving a magic wand. Also, the treaty has already been violated by at least two countries and hasn't been signed by them all. If by "other factors" you mean satisfying the requirement of showing the medicinal benefits, done and done.

He could do it today if he wanted to.
