The Fox Farm schedule says to change the resevoir every two weeks. Are people doing this? Will it overstress the plants?
NOT changing out a rez will allow an accumulation of nutrient salts and other crap like pathogens, which will stress a plant. Plants prefer clean water and readily available nutrients if they can get them!

This is the LONGEST thread i've seen other than the 101 already asked questions... Yet people don't think to read it page for page... Why? I did and my plants look and smell great! I guess Ill never understand why its so hard to read, but thats just me... peace

I'm doing the same thing as you but I decided to try and germinate my seeds with the herb settings and nutrients. Keep me posted on the salad greens and i'll let you know how the herb setting works out. By the way, the salad greens are really good, swear! Had them with dinner the other night.

I also am using the herb setting. I'm using the aero garden nutrients but some of the posters seem adamant about using the fox farm nutrients. I think I'm going to order them and switch when they arrive. Are you just using the three seed pods that came with the unit or did you make up some type of pod to use the spacer holes? If so what did you use?

Thanks, Mike

AG nutes Burned my plants, you r going to see yellow leaves after the second real sets of leaves..........

DONT USE 2 nutes before, then 2 after, this will give ur plants a big ODose...., intead, if u r going to use them anyways, dissolve them before you put them in the reservoir, and put only 2 of them, then change to FoxFarm.... remember to change the water, and clean it with hot water.

Good luck

Heres my first success. My first sprout died. I have this set up in my room. I have the Basil's and the mint growing in the front pods. I cover the AG with a black laundry bag to keep any extra light out during the brief period in the morning before the light comes on. Also my mom likes to keep the house cold so it's also a small barrier from the cold.

My five seeds have germinated, and sprouts are starting to poke through after I guided the roots through the bottom of the plastic holders. I'm thinking about keeping the little plastic humidity domes on the sprouts for a little while longer, since the humidity in my space is low (30%) and can't be easily changed. What do you think?

This past Friday 6 I change the light period from 18/6 to 12/12, all my plants have shown a really good development since I change to FoxFarm, I think I saved them.... hopefully they dont turn male because of that stress period...

Does anybody knows,(this question is for teknique actually), how much time does it takes to the plant to show their sex after the change of lighting period ? ?

Thnx

5 - 10 days on a mature plant. 2weeks + on immature plant.
A plant has reached sexual maturity when the nodes alternate instead of being parallel.

something like that

Come on... on a mature plant you can see signs after 24 hours... sometimes. Check out these after 14 days flower... 4 1/2 wks veg. The last pic' shows the bud development the best and it's a lower branch.
