Never used it but like you said, Fox farms seems to be the goto choice. Ocean Forest in particular seems to be a favorite for people who don't want to deal with ferts

I’ve got nice things to say about SoHum living soil. Send it over the edge with Build-A-Flower top dressing from BAS and you’ve got a winner.

I'll also throw in that the Kashi Blend from BAS seems to be a good option too; Compared to plain old bokashi from terraganix which did give me a nice white fuzz for the most part the BAS stuff seems to come on strong & hard... thick white fuzz all over the tops so a non-scientific comparison I'd say the BAS wins hands down plus it has a few other goodies mixed in including some mycos.

I add quite a bit of perillite to my promix hp so i get to water more for my indoor. Always scared of root rot
I guess you can add too much perlite but I’ve never been able to. All we get here is the BX for some reason. I add a lot more perlite to it. Peat really compacts well and the more waterings the more compaction. I find cultivating a lot easier with way more perlite in it.

roots organic original potting mix > ffof

drains a lot better out of the bag. that' the soil i'd use if i used soil.

For right out of the bag stuff, I get great results with COM - Stonington Blend. I have used it 5 or 6 times and its the only stuff that doesn't need any amendments from start to finish. Really you don't need to add anything to it but I do add 20% more perlite. Anyhow... I usually veg my plants for 10 - 12 weeks, and still all I have to give them is water from start to finish. But as a side note... I do leave a few inches of space at the top of my pots when I start them, and at the start of the 3rd week of flower I add a 1 -1/2 inch layer of COM - Stonington Blend to recharge the pot!
