Hello beginner here, never grown before. I bought a 1000 watt switchable ballast M.H./H.P.S. Im looking to buy my 4''x4''x7'' grow tent for 6 mature plants,12 imature plants legal medical maximum limit for me in calif. I want to know if i can start from seed with my M.H. or H.P.S just keeping it far enough away from the seedlings until they get stronger. Also will this be ok for clones bought from my local dispensary? Thanks CW.

1000 watts is not necessary for seedlings. A window seal or a small fluorescent will do to start.
It will be fine to start them under 1000w if they are far enough away. Like 3ft.
But, this will still be more light then you need.
That's why lots of growers use multiple lights at multiple wattages.
IMO 400w MH is the best for veg. 600 if your going big.

I have 1000 watt light in a 5x4x8 space with six purple berry clones what do u guys think will work better letting them grow as tall as hey can 3-4 feet or scrog what do u guys do and about how much do you guys yield

Second grow here. First time using 1000 watt hps for flower. 4 weeks veg under 400 watt.
Feeding iguana juice, cal mag and molasses.

i started a 1000w club a few months back and it sorta just died off, glad i found one thts got some action lol
but im running a 1000w hps and 1000w MH, goona flower 12 blue dreams, 8 SSH, and 8 NL #5. cant wait!!
heres a few pics of the clones soon to be flowering, and some nug shots of what i just pulled off with using a 1000w hps and 400w mh. dual spectrums is where its at, im tell ya! lol

Whats up fellas, i got 2x 1000s in a 8x7x5 grow room. i have 1 wonder haze, 1 blueberry, 5 champane, 5 rastaberry(strawberry cough x chronic) 2 easy cool 8 reflectors with 8in inline fan. im putting them in 4 at a time every week for 3weeks. both lights on temp/humidity ( 79/55). Rep 1000s.... pics coming soon.

Tks guys... been super excited with this grow.. my first indoor. This site has been a huge help in getting me off to the good start. I did loose 1 of my ICE though which cheesed me off. Damn thing just mutated all to hell on me after sprouting and getting it's first set of leaves. So now I am down to 3 of the NL and 1 ICE which I am hoping turns out female. But on the upside... with the height of my grow box I will be able to grow these ones bigger now that I have the extra room.
