The 10 worst most anti marijuana states

Here is the list that I put together for the 10 worst anti mj states. I'm judging on mandatory sentencing and harshness of penalties.

The judge has no power to sentence the defendant to less time than the mandatory minimum. A prisoner serving an MMS for a federal offense and for most state offenses will not be eligible for parole. Even peaceful marijuana smokers sentenced to "life MMS" must serve a life sentence with no chance of parole.[/FONT]


If you've never studied this you really should, especially in the case of driving through one of the mentioned states.

Any time somebody tries to force otherwise peaceful people to do something, yes, it is crazy. Proof that many laws are arbitrary and have no basis in PROTECTING rights, rather in STEALING them.

What kills me is the range of penalty. If you sell 1 ounce in Minnesota it's a ticket and a fine sell an oz across the street in South Dakota it's a FELONY! I'm all for states rights but the fed should step in and pronounce this cruel and unusual punishment...and just straight up stupid.

I try to remain optimistic that one day marijuana will be legalized. But it just seems so hard to believe our government would completely abandon such draconian laws. It looks like there would be just too many corrections officers hitting the unemployment line in states like those.

Skunky I've gotta agree the penalties are absurd. I disagree that the FED should step in though. I don't believe more government is the way to freedom. I think the FED and STATES should butt the fuck out of peple's private lives.

of course oklahoma, the most assbackwards conservative state would have some of the worst laws. that place is the asshole of america. if youre ever in oklahoma you better move around the law especially if youre a longhair who likes to smoke dank. those rednecks would probably give public executions for weed if they could.

What's the difference if the FED gives you rights or the states? How is that butting into people's lives, it's the direct opposite.

How is less government more government?

What pisses me off are states like Alabama in which spout all these states rights. Yet are federal tax welfare states in which money from other states (usually liberal one's) is used to support their infrastructure.

Alabama gets more than 1.60 for every dollar they spend in federal taxes because they are unable to support themselves. So exactly why should they be able to support their archaic laws with other states tax dollar's?

With all do respect this is the UNITED States of America. I agree that states should be able to decide for themselves on most issue's. But when the separation in this case between states is drastic and the laws are so different than something needs to happen for the good of the country.

Lotsa "red" states on that list. Happy i live in a "blue" state where up to 1.5 Oz. is just a civil offense, no crime at all.

Rights do not "come from government".
Rights do not come from other people who believe they are entitled to speak for you. They are inalienable or unalienable if you prefer.

Having mastery over your own body is a natural right. The natural rights we have should not be usurped by any
manmade attempt to herd people into accepting loss of freedoms.

States should be able to decide for themselves? States are not a cohesive unit and are often made up of people with different desires and tastes..So let's go a little further... Why not individual PEOPLE should be able to decide for themselves?

The "good of the country" is an arbitrary thing and can be defined numerous conflicting ways dependant upon the point of view. I may not agree with what you believe is for the good of the country, nor you with me. So why not agree to respect others freedom and leave all levels of government out of it?

Again, If a person harms nobody, does anybody have the right to restrict their behavior or ownership of their body?
I say no.
