THC's 3x3 315w CMH rDWC Grow Journal

Hi gang, I finally got my new tent setup going, and two little girls started. I had done a Dollar Store LED grow for the experience, and while I got some bud, was heavily disappointed with the outcome. A real light was in order!

BORN: March 25, 2020

Here is my current setup:
- 3x3 Tent
- 4" Vivosun Exhaust with carbon filter
- 6" Inlet with active fan / 4" inlet inactive
- 52L Tote for res filled to 28L
- 9w Air pump going to two pucks
- Water pump circulating to each pot (RDWC)
- 315w Vivosun fixture with 3100K bulb
- Honeywell Humidifier
- 6" Circulation fan
- Nutrients: GH Hydro Trio, CalMag+, Floralicious Plus
- Strain(s): Afghan Kush, Jean Guy

Girls are in hydroton planted in Rapid Rooters, 5" net pots.

Quick little update, little ones are doing well. I have the light at 36" currently, but will move it to 24" once they are in full veg.

Thanks! That res should give them plenty of root room. I'm very excited to see what this light can do.

I run a 315 watt and a 400 watt.
In a 800mm x 800mm tent.

Fantastic! You like what you are yielding from the CMH? Which bulb are you using? Is your 400w and HPS?

I was going to pick up a 150w HPS for a flower booster. Local store has them for $69 kit!

Holy shit! Those are some nice looking colas, sir!

I always like to name my plants, it ensures that I have some sort of attachment, and the likelihood I'll care for it more is higher.

Tomorrow will be one week since seed pop, but I wouldn't say they are quite in veg yet... Another couple days:

Not too much to report.

I have lowered the light to 24", and so far, the plants are loving it. Even being the 3100K bulb, I hope I still get the fantastic veg results most get from CMH.

PPM: 300
pH: 5.8-6

Day 7 from seed, and I'd say today is first day of actual Veg:




If you look closely, you can see the Afghan Kush, while smaller, is actually further along than the Jean Guy.

Into the Veg we go...

Did the first water change yesterday. I made the mistake of filling it up too high and the plants didn't like it much. I also think I had the light a bit too close, so I have moved it up to 32" for the time being.

Nute changes this week:

- Added VooDoo Juice 50ml
- Upped Nutrient level to 350ppm

They slowed down for a day after the water change, which is normal, I think? I hope in a few days they bounce back.

I have upgraded my air pump to a 9.5w, and what a difference in the bubbles! This should help with getting more o2 to those roots. I also needed to upgrade my humidifier, as I was having trouble getting it to stay about 35% during peak light period. Now I can keep it at 55% without issue.

Well, they are sick. I didn't listen to my gut by waiting a little longer to do the water change, and they both took a turn for the worse. I also noticed that I had a pretty bad light leak. I have fixed it now, but I believe that I had been breeding some bad bacteria.

I'm hoping the Voodoo Juice will help a bit. I have also washed the roots with pH water, and refreshed the res again too.

I am hoping these bounce back... Now we wait...

Quick update. The ladies are back! After some Voodoo juice, cold water, getting rid of the small light leak, and some lucky... They both bounced back.

Nice and white roots are pouring out the bottoms now, and I removed most of the bad growth that happened during the rot.

Technically these are day 18 from seed, but the rot slowed them down a week, so I would say they are closer to day 10 right now.

Week 3 update:

They are springing back, but still not 100% happy. I can't figure out what is wrong. The Jean Guy looks happier than the Afghan but both are growing quickly though.

pH is 5.8-6.1 at all times almost
Temp is 75-80 during lights on and 65 without
Humidity fluctuates between 53-65%

ppm: 650
CaliMag+ added and VooDoo Juice at water change four days ago now.
Water temps 65-70°

Any ideas why these aren't looking all springing!?




Any suggestions or help?!

Update:

They are still growing, in fact, like crazy. But still growing droopy. The leaves aren't limp at all, they are just growing that way. They are firm and the stem growth is huge. Roots are insane looking.

Could it be that the light is just too close? I have it hung at 30" currently.

I increased the intakes to 6", so now a 12" total opening with a 4" exhaust through a carbon filter. My ambient temps are now in the 72-76° range and humidity 60%+ always.

I'm desperate at this point.

DAY 25:
They seem to be bouncing back a bit from the droop. I am starting to think that the growth is just fucking heavy, and droopy a bit is normal. The sativa crossed Jean Guy is definitely *flatter* now.

I have bent them over now to give growth to the base, and taken a clone from each as well.

Training starts today:

Quick update pic, they are really starting to fill out! They were just about to go to sleep here, and the humidifier had run out of water so they are a little droopy, but otherwise no issues to report.

DAY 29:

This will be the day before flower. I am going to flip the switch tomorrow. I'm absolutely blown away with the growth under this light. CMH is the real deal.




The little guy in the back is a clone from the Afghan. Seems to be taking hold! Now, here's hoping they are female... Should know by next week!
