Wow this ended up being a way more interesting conversation than I thought. I always thought terpenes were just a flavor and smell thing. Now I'm confused again. I guess you just have to try strains out if you like the look/smell and see how you like them!

Just go for high THC%. I don't even understand the people talking about growing for taste and smell. We all do that. And at the same time we are trying to get that THC% through the roof!!!!! Thats why we test bud. A 17% Sour is not going to be stronger then a 27.8% Fire OG.

Good to know. I haven't run into one yet that doesn't test but from what I've been reading from the OG heads on here sounds like it's not all that great of an indicator anyway. I've only really gotten interested in ganja on this level since I started researching growing but it's some fascinating shit. A lot of nuances.

That depends IMO.

To me effect is more important than potency. I'd rather smoke weed that makes me feel good than just getting wasted.

I agree with everyone else above. Thc is just one cannabinoid. The unique combinations of cannabinoids and terpenes, and how those interact with each of our unique brain chemistry determines how a given strain will affect you.

And you guys are going to know this going into a dispensary like the op was asking? Can you explain to us the exact combination of cannabinoids and terpenes were supposed to be looking for? So like picture charts that your using or what ever your getting this combination from. So we can know.

do they post the test dates at these dispensaries? Do they test every batch or do they just test one and advertise that for the next 6 months?

I never spoke of a combination chart???? not sure what you mean.

I have just done lots of research and heard lots of folks who are leading the industry speak on the subject of thc percentage vs the whole profile. They all say the same thing. It goes way deeper than thc percentage.


bioassay will tell you more than any numbers on a paper will.

Not to mention the "blue dream" that joe blow grower got tested and sold to the dispensary 2 months ago vs the blue dream that jane doe grower just sold to the dispensary 1 week ago.


Sounds like a lot of the test results are bogus and just marketing ploy's for the better part.

That's why I was asking if they test every batch or just test a batch here and there and throw up the numbers for advertising.
