So I started constructing a rubbermaid grow box today. I purchased 2 19 gallon containers that are 25" long. My lighting is 4x24watt T5HO bulbs. Today I ran the setup with just the lighting, no fans or even holes for fans yet. After 6 hrs my thermometer only read 85F and it was maybe an inch or two from the bulbs! The top of the box is barely warmer then when the lights are off. My room temp averages at 74F. So is it safe to assume that I only need to circulate enough air to provide fresh air for the plants and keep an appropriate humidity level?
