Introduction (Overview):
Fire OG has an interesting history. Its parents are that of high caliber; the famous Raskals cut of OG Kush and the F1 (first Gen. ) cut of San Fernando Valley OG Kush, an OG Kush decedent originating from you guessed it: San Fernando Valley, California. SFV OG Kush essentially elevates the OG Kush body numbing effect with a powerful sativa-dominant hybrid high that wont glue you to your couch and will provide pain relief, along with a lemon and piney aroma. The Raskals OG started out as Raskals flawless cut of straight OG Kush, which was then bred with Cali Connections F3 (third generation) SFV OG Kush cut. So interestingly SFV OG Kush appears twice in Fire OG. The Raskals OG adds a pungent, rank forest-like aroma with undertones of what I can only accurately relate to Chem Dog and Sour Diesel.
Now, stir the two legendary parent strains around in the melting pot and bask in the pungent earthy, almost citrus-like, pine-forest aroma as it infiltrates your nostrils. This flower will successfully relax your body into a surreal state of comfort but not too much to the point of demotivation. The way I see it, this medication is perfect before studying or watching a movie, for it is*extremely*relaxing, yet in a confusingly-contradictory way it energizes you and influences motivation. Meaning you can actually finish the movie without passing out and drooling all over your loved-one. It definitely features more indica traits, but it is extremely noticeable that a profound sativa influence is prominent; it has a very clear headed high that will help get you motivated to take on the day this is great wake-n-bake medication! I would recommend this flower to any of you who may have children or are living with family that doesnt agree with medical marijuana, because it hosts an exceptionally controllable high that wont leave you looking like Tommy Chong in front of your hardcore veteran grandfather. It may not be as effective as pain-relief medication (dont get me wrong, it still did wonders for my lower back and stomach issues), but more so for those who are in need of a motivational boost with a medicinal twist. A very particular and powerful OG (if not one of the most powerful cuts of it), there is no doubt about it.
This Fire OG that I am reviewing in specific is an in-house strain that the grower has had with him for over ten years, so believe me in that he has perfected it. It is a clone-only (meaning there are no seeds that would produce this specific pheno) cut that came directly from the heart of San Fernando Valley and was grown indoors via coco as a growing medium. Fire OG is a very self pronounced indica-dominant hybrid that consistently tests between 19% and 21%.
Aesthetics:
Lets say this, people have a hard time*not*looking at Fire OG. Well, at times its hard to see the bud at all the trichome forest is so thick on this flower that it is sometimes difficult to see the leaves that these little hydrocarbons call home. It glistens in rooms even with little light, and under sunlight this strain reflects UVs like a prism! (Okay, maybe that was a*little*over dramatic, but this stuff is undeniably loaded with crystals.) The resin on the Fire OG is quite viscous; breaking down this flower by hand will leave your fingers with the classic glue-like build up of sticky trichome heads. Once you move past the field of crystals your eyes are immediately focused towards the dark, orange hairs that seem to be consistently present all throughout the bud. These buds are candy for the senses.
Terpene Profile:
Along with the majority of OG Kush related strains (or so it seems), Fire OG predominantly host the terpene known as Linalool. Its taste is best described as a spicy floral essence. Linalool is interesting in that it acts as a natural pesticide Dont worry! It is non-toxic towards humans and animals, but it is known for controlling bugs like cockroaches or mosquitos. The other, second-most active terpene in Fire OG is Humulene. The name of this terpene is derived from its origin, the hops plant known as*Humulus Lupulus. Humulene is what gives beer its signature hoppy flavor and is a huge factor in the flavor behind OG Kush strains.
The Smoke:
Nothing but white ashes in my ashtray after smoking this flower. This properly flushed Fire OG burned very consistently when rolled up in a joint wrap; it burned in uniform from the tip to the crutch. Out of a clean bong the flower evenly ignited into a nice, white pile of ash after a few hits. Smooth smoke on both the inhale and exhale, with a slight numbing sensation that follows the latter. Very thick, flavor-filled smoke that does not taste of any chemicals or additives will quietly fill your lungs upon puffing on Fire OG. The taste differs from the smell in that it isnt as sweet (although it still has a certain tanginess to it), but rather pungent and dank aroma like a Chem Dog or Sour Diesel. It still predominantly features an earthy, lemony-pine taste but is also contradicted with this underlying skunkiness, leaving it a true pleasure to the pallet. It has an after taste that resembles the smell of hiking in a redwood forest that is also somehow home to about 30% orange and lemon trees. I also noticed that the flavor remained up until I put the roach out, which indicates quality.
The Effect (Medicinal Benefits):
Like I said earlier, the best way I could describe the way Im feeling right now (took another smoke break in between sections) is a very cerebral, almost surreal head high to where I am awake and able to focus on writing this. Along with my head being in the clouds, my body is at a tranquil, relaxed state. This medicine would be very useful for muscle spasms and joint problems, because my arms, legs, neck etc all feel weightless as if I am suspended in zero-gravity. This is a surprisingly long lasting medication, the last time I smoked it I felt the effects for a solid 2-3 hours (peaked for about one) and didnt experience too many side effects (other than exceptionally low eyes for some reason Ive noticed this strain adds about five pounds to your eye lids). This is one of the more powerful OGs, so if you are a novice smoker I would urge you to try this for its unique effect, however take it slowly because this isnt your average kush.
Conclusion:
This Fire OG is blowing other OG Kushs straight out into the ocean they originated near. Especially at a middle-shelf price, there is nothing bad to say about this bud. It is a perfect combination of indica and sativa (at 60/40) that will relax and soothe your body yet also stimulate and intrigue your mind. All my reviews as of late have really only stated positive remarks about these products, I know this. All I can say is the reviews have been on products that speak for themselves I just do the interpreting.
There will be reviews that are more critical, I just need to run into some material that I can actually criticize enough.
