I'm looking to turn a 4x2 tent in half but there doesn't seem to be any device I can see or think of that will allow me to add a shelf mid way. My purpose for it is to allow me to veg double the amount of plants in the same tent. Any ideas would be appreciated. I don't want to go buy a large 5 shelf propagator

Get a table to sit it on and lay the tent on its side, more floor space, less roof height.

I've done this with my clone tents.
There two stacked on top of each other and each has a chain hanging in the corner with hook onto a wood shelf.
So essentially the divider is floating.
I'd considered using pvc pipe and corners to build an internal frame but I'd lose space that way and wouldn't be able to fit 3 propagator next to each other.
Another option to avoid the chain would be drill holes in the poles and pop a thick zip tie through , then fasten either a metal grill, a wooden shelf or maybe corrugated plastic

Yes I want to split it horizontally. That way I can have a decent amount of height to let them grow a bit before the flower tent. I need to use the coco matting with autopot easy2gro so is automatic watering in a tray. Needs something stable. The chain idea sounds good

try a wire rack shelf with ratchet rope hangers or chain? you can get the right one (make sure the hole layout matches tent pole dimensions) if you dont want to make a shelf from wood
But for twice the money about, you can get a whole 5 tier adjustable wire rack and use it for storage or something outside of the tent. 55$ for a single shelf or 100$ for a whole setup i found on amazon. If you look around you may find better prices

I'd be much more worried about water possibly dripping on the light beneath the shelf , so I would also get a nice overflow pan that could be directed elsewhere
