Hi: everyone
Some of you out there will know this story
I had to move my grow to a closet size of closet 740mm wide 440mm deep and 1500mm high
Im using a 400W HPS with eurowing reflector
I have a 4" extractor fan
2 5" holes in floor of closet for passive intake
I have a 7" oscillating fan mounted to side of colset blowing down on top of plant

MY temps are running hot 92`F with lights on

I need a cheap way to bring my temps down !!!!

could l bolt a sheet of window glass to the reflector ?? would this work ????

l cant go down the route of getting a cooltube - I heard they are very fragile anyways

What can i do ??? l am half way through flowering the aul girl has been maxed out on stress the last few days cant have this goin on much longer

As allways guys ur help is allways appreciated;-):leaf::leaf:;-)

Time to boost your fan with another one .. I used picture frame glass in a lamp once as it was all I had and it worked to keep the temps down but be carefull if its not temperd glass as it may break easly .. Most people wont recommend such but we all must do what we must ..

92 is going to shut them down and youll wind up with scraggly weed as a result

Anyway of bringing air from outside into your room? Yeah bolting a sheet of glass would help bring down the temps.

You need to increase air flow and try to mix in cooler outside air. Cool tubes work very well for the price. I have never broke one. 60 bucks well spent in my books.

Good luck

Where is your 4" extractor fan located? If already on top you might just need another 4" fan. If you cant put a hole in the top of your box to vent the heat, have you tried a riser inside from one of the 5" holes? using a flex hose from the hole in the floor to about 50mm from the top of the cabinet, gently pull the heated out the bottom w/attached fan.
What is the ambient temp? Where are you getting your temp reading from? You might try placing your 7" fan, mid box, lo setting so the heat has stable air to travel upwards pulling in cooler air faster.
Sometimes less is more.

Well Grandpapy
I have the 4" fan extracting hot air to the cabinet above via a 4" hole and also have the ballast in the cabnet above out of the closet.
Not sure l understand ya with the riser method ???

Whats the temp of your intake air? You need at least 15degs below your target operating temp using an open reflector. If thats not the problem then you may need to upgrade your exhuast and perhaps add a powered intake. You can also try making a small DIY AC (google it) or maybe even using ice or frozen bottles of water in front of your oscillating fan.

Well as badluck would have it l only just bought my exhaust fan for this job my space is very crowded now on the floor
Not gonna go with frozen bottles of water seems it could work but dont want to blow shit up neither with melting ice
gonna check the DIY AC
if not close shop down NO point tryin to grow wed under my current condations:twisted:

If you can you vent to the top just add another exhaust vent and fan. Also try to raise your ballast so it's not sitting and transferring heat to the cab.
The "riser" was if you could only vent to the bottom of your cab.

Well THANK YOU ALL VERY MUCH FOR UR HELP :blsmoke::bigjoint:
I switched out my 400W hps with my 2 125W flowering cfl`s will upgrade them to 250watters after l finish this grow
BUT the temp/humidity differences is closet temp is now 76`F was 93`F - humidity is now 65% was 45%
Less heat more humidity but l guess its a lesser of 2 evils
Gonna run my mini dehumidifier 24/7 might get it down a percent or 2

My aul girl has gone through the mill the last 2 weeks in and out of her dark time so she is stressed out to the last will post some pics in 2 weeks for u all to see how shes comming along

Thanks everyone for all ur help

Now you will get scraggly buds because your lights are too weak, you cant just drop the light intensity to cool the room. Get cooltubes they are not fragile they are solid glass, some ducting and an exhaust fan preferable centrifigaul. That glass your intending to use will shatter and fuck your light and plants.
Get the cooltubes you wont look back and the results are as good as it gets.

Hi back to u all again
I looked into the cool tube and I just dont have the space to run one!!! would it be worth considering running a 250W HPS??? a 400Watter is just burning up in there
MY space is slim and not that long why does everyone think CFL`s are crap I got the branded ones plug n`grow ones i have 2 reflectors and cut and joined them to run 2x125W 2700k side by side hanging 5 inches over the top of my girl was considering buying 250 watter ones 2700K there expensive but way cooler runnin than HPS ya know ??

I ran a grow where temps were always 85 degrees or above. You need great air circulation and Co2. Cooler is always better. The weed itself was just fine after flush, dry and cure. The big diff I noticed was much less tric's glazing the plants surfaces during flower.

Yeah thats what l thought im wondering if using a 250W hps light would run cooler in my space??
Cant decide weather to go for high power 300W cfl`s or run a 250W hps and toss my 400W hps
What do you think??

Well:All

Well some of U might think growen with high power cfl`s is a waste of time BUT my grow space is narrow and shallow SOOOOOO to me hps would be a huge fire hazard risk!!!!
So i made a decision to try make a compromise with high lumen(hps) and high PAR(cfl) a good output 250W hps puts out 30,000 lumen's and the cfl`s I bought 250 watters in the 2700k 2 of them put out together - 39,000 lumens
So with the lumen output and the high value of PAR aprox 80% these should do the job for say 2 plants should`nt they ???
Well thats all I have for now thank you for all ur comments on this topic :leaf::weed:

The smoke actually knocked my socks off, From what i know thc isnt affected untill what like 150f or something like that.
