Temperature Concerns

Hello All.

First, thanks to all those I have learned from through reading this site over the years.

I am currently setting up my new grow space and was wondering about temperature control.

I will be using a 600w switchable MH/HPS system with a cool tube and reflector. The space is a 4x4x6.5 mylar grow tent.

Ventilation for smell isn't too much of a concern at this point, I am more worried about heat. I will be growing in a basement that probably stays in the mid 70's on hot days.

I will be getting at least one 400CFM fan. My question is, what would be the most efficient use of that fan for cooling the room? Should it hang outside of the tent and blow cool air through the cool tube and out the other side, or should it pull hot air in from the tent, then out through a filter?

Any help is greatly appreciated, cheers

That's a lot of FAN for 104 cubic feet. That means you will be evacuating the air about 4 times a minute.

I have a 190 cfm FAN for my 3 X 4 X 6 and I have a speed controller to slow it down.

I use my FAN like this

Exhaust <- Air cooled Hood <- Carbon filter -|

My Fan is actually on the outside of my box, with passive intakes.

Hope this helps :bigjoint:

Thanks for the input I really appreciate it. So I am assuming you 190cfm fan works well for you. What size light are you cooling if you don't mind me asking, and do you need any additional exhaust beyond the fan/duct hooked up to the light?

Thanks Again!

The 190 cfm fan works great on my 400 watt with a Sun Systems air cooled hood.

I don't need any additional exhaust, and it cools down my box about 10 degrees on the lowest setting.
