tempature issue

I am having a problem controlling the temperature in my grow space. I have fans. I still am running at 79-82 F. Is this a issue or am I going to be ok? :confused:

Your probably ok...my temps are running 84-88 and they seem to be doing fine....of course 70-80 is optimal but these plants are tough and they adapt.

Thanks for the vote of confidence.. This is my first grow and I am scared to death I am going to kill them. I have never been able to garden or grow anything. I was that kid in school that could not get the plant in the milk carton to grow. I am just so stressed out they are going to die on me. So thanks for the info.:mrgreen:

my plants hit like 97F on a regular basis, they're ok i know its gonna get the yield but, at the moment i have few other options. those things will grow in super harsh conditions, just not as good as they could. try and find a way to deal with it, but they aren't gonna die at those temps.

well they all cant be winners. At least they are not going to die on me. I have to keep watering them more than I thought I should. I am sure it is because they are having to survive in the heat. If the stuff is smokeable then I am happy. I really do not have a better option. Thanks for the feedback.

Some strains come from high temperature zones. I moved about 3 years ago to a place that gets up to 120 degrees during the summer. My first crop here my room was about 85-90 degrees. And I got a very nice crop from it, But I learned to not grow crops during that time of the year, because i did back to back flowering cycles. The second one I placed an A/C unit in the wall of the room. Perfect temps 70-75.. BUT WOW!!!!!!!! I got the elect bill!!!! I had doubled my summer time elect bill. So now I only grow when the light can also help to heat my home. So in reality, my light is costing me Zero Dollars to run, because i pipe the heat from my light into my home.

But for you crop. good intake and outlet ventilation. Make sure your ballast is outside of the room. Try putting your grow room on the shady side of your home. Get better and more ventilation

88 is a temp spike, not a constant temp. MJ plants are pretty tough as long as you don't blast them with 90+ temps for long periods of time. That being said, a perfect temp is 72-75 but then...there are probably other factors that would limit the grow before then, such as PH, nutes, soil, ventilation or lights.

I think the temperature outside is a major issue. It is starting to warm up. I have not turned on the a/c yet. I am growing in a closet. I have poor ventilation. I am going to change things up for the next grow. Being on the 3rd floor of the building is not helping.

Irishgirl, It is very hard for anyone to get the first crop right. Hell I screw up at least 3 things each grow. Hell here is a good one I did last crop. I use an R/O filtration system, which takes 3 gallons of tap water to make 1 gallon of filtered. I was stoned and triped over the waste tube, When i got up for work the next moring my grow room, hallway and dining rooms had about 2" of water. And i live on the second floor.. DOH!!!!!!! SHIT!!!!!! But I got very, very lucky. Because my floor has 2 1/2 inches of light-crete on it to reduce sound. well it also acted like the bottom of a swimming pool.

What I am getting at is this. Just do your best, and learn what you can from your first crop, and then do better from then on each time. Or at least try.

Ventilation is very important for growing weed.

On the ventilation thing.... I have it in a bathroom closet and I have the fan going for that.. I also have 2 plug in fans. Is that enough?
I am also worried about the smell. I am a few weeks away from that. Will it be contained in my space or will it carry out into the hall? Outside my house? I just do not know how strong they smell. I am planting stink..... I guess I did not think that through..... Oh well. I guess I could get a pet skunk :dunce:

yea u gotta be quite godly to have a perfect set up, like to have the best from every aspect of growing is hard as shit, concentrate on 3 main things
1. light 2. ventilation 3. medium
with those in somewhat decent shape, youll grow a baby no matter what, mite not be best but good enuff, spec for first time, shit i only got light down

If you are asking if the FART FAN in the bathroom has enough cfm to work for your grow.. Hmmmm.. NO!!!!.. lol.. those things have very little cfm, and are usually installed incorrectly anyway. Tell your Hubby to pull out the tool box and get you some better circulation. Your space should change out the air every 5 minutes i think it is. But when you look at a fan, and it says 100 cfm, you need to take into account that is under perfect conditions. Now you have to take into account the drag of the air flowing threw the duct work itself. This is why it is important to keep the curves to a min. and make them long and slow curves, not hard and sharp one.

Here is what I have done to save money. I went to Lowes and bought a 300cfm squirrel fan.
Multi-Purpose Pivoting Utility High Velocity Fan

I then took a metal floor vent. You know, the ones for heat to come up through the floor from below.. (heater). This vent goes from square to round. 6" I seal it up with duct tape and heavy Mil visqueen. Then I fit a 6inch flex duct onto this. I have one in my room and one outside my room. With your small closet I would think that just one of these outside blowing in, with a small 4" vortex venting through you light and outside the room. Site the Vortex fan and a small charcoal air scrubber. This will all cost about $400. Or leave out the Vortex fan and air scrubber and do it for about $50. A lot of weed strains do not smell very much. Try to choose one of the strains. I grow in a nice Apartment complex. I have had my system up and running for about 6 harvests straight, and not one person has said anything... Well other then I left my back slideing glass door open one day and was smoking on a joint. About an hour later there was a knock on the door. It was my down stairs neighbor (who I have never met) asking me if i wanted to smoke a joint he had. He said he knew I was smoking so pretty good weed. Because that was no cigerette or cold cough...lol Know I make sure to shut my back door when smoking. But I have no air scrubber. I think I might have to buy one this crop though. I bought Morning Glory seeds. Which this is supposed to have a medium strong smell. We will see.

Go easy your first grow. just get the fan from lowes and make it work. Here are pictures of my Lowes fan set up. Notice the plywood up top of the doorway. that door is still there it is just open. The plywood is just wide enough at the top so the vents will fit into it. Then I drape a solid piece of panda film. I put a zipper in this, then I hang a second pand curtain over the zipper. Because light goes threw the zipper. I have never been able to install one that does not let some light in. I also lay something over the bottoms of the two curtains to make sure it does not somehow lift up. Notice the 25 year old Poly fiber level. $5 at Sears.. still accurate today, even though I broke a foot off of it.. lol

Thanks for the idea. I added 2 more fans. I now have a total of 3 fans and also the fart fan. I will go to lowes and look at getting something to make a permenate fix. The more lights I add the bigger problem I am having with the temp. I am hoping by adding the extra fans it will help. I am also spraying the tops of the baby's. The meter says it is ok and I am not overwatering.

That plywood is only tacked in place. I bet i could tear my room down in an hour, and another 30 minutes to touch up the staple holes and walla, you could not even tell this was a grow room.
