temp !!

hey i carnt keep my temprature down , is it better to have the carbon filter attached straight to my extractor fan as i have the fan outside tent and about 2ft of ducting imberteen ??? thanx

wouldnt make much of a difference, are you using a grow tent? or cupbaord? more details do you have a fresh air intake down low?

yea its a 1m grow tent with a 400w hps iv got a 187m2 inline fan pumping fresh air from outside the house in and another fan the same with the carbon filter on but iv got no where to pump the warm air so its in the same room as the tent and in this hot weather my tent is hitting 35degrees any ideas welcome ??

Your problem is that the carbon filter is hindering the flow of your second fan and it can't push out as much air as what you are forcing into your grow room from the other. This creates positive pressure in the grow room, rather than vacuum, which just lets stale air get hot in your tent. I have a 6' inline that draws the air out with a 400w and a 1000w in a 2x3m tent and my temps inside are 79*F or 26-27*C with an outside the tent temp of 75*F or 24*C.

What I would do in your situation is get rid of the inline sucking fresh air in. Leave all the ducting for that though with a Phresh filter or HEPA filter on the end and just have your other fan hooked up to the carbon filter drawing the air out. You would do best to have the ducting for the fresh air ran to the bottom of your grow tent on one side and have the extraction fan on the other side at the top of the tent. This will circulate the fresh air (oxygen) from the bottom (root system) of your plants, to the top, across your entire garden. Remember it's the roots that benefit from oxygen the most, not just the plant itself.

ok iv unpluged my intake fans and left the ducting in place ......... its around 31degrees now ....and 20dc outside the house ...... il check over the next couple of days but i think i still need to be cooler so anythink else i could do ??

You could try hooking up your other fan to go out to another DIY filter. Is your hood ventilated?

nope its just a basic 400 although if ii had the money i would have a cool tube ....

In that case, if it doesn't have one already, cut out a vent above the bulb on your hood. Then run your exhaust ducting to right above that vent. If possible buy a properly sized vent for a different hood and secure it to yours via duct tape or tap screws and attach your ducting to that. Obviously you are on a budget and this was about the cheapest way I could think of to more properly concentrate your cooling abilities.
