temp and humidity

Posting in the newbie section cause I never had to deal with indoor growing before...OK so I got a gauge running in the room now and my central canopy is showing mid to high 60s for humidity and 80 - 83 avg. temps during lights on. Lights out is running low 70s temperature avg. but with nearly %100 humidity...this can't be good can it?

Yea sounds pretty terrible IMO, that's about how my room is if I just run the light. I need to run my window A/C and use a pretty big dehumidifier to pull about 2 gallons a day from the air, keeping me in the 35-48%RH range and temps 70-79f. A big 440cfm extraction fan is key as well.

OK yeah, all things in time (with$$lol) I still need to get a LOT of silver sealing tape and attach a proper door and will have the exhaust fan (4"-in line with included carbon filter - I WILL assist this with an array of computer fans with a power adapter directly wired to the array pulling just prior to final exhaust through the sewer exhaust pipe, which is where the room will duct into...)

Right now the room is basically in an open basement, closed in but with no door attached and no way to cover (which would hurt the situation) No wonder they like it outside SOO much better lol...

On second thought, I will try covering the bottom half of the door so the cooler damper air is blocked...until I can get the room buttoned up proper.

Well you helped me so maybe I can help you. How big is your room? Is your fan on a timer? I've been growing in a basement for years now and the only time I had that problem was when I had my exhaust fan on a timer. Using a ac in the basement when it isn't a sealed room isn't cost effective. The money you pay to cool is going right out the sewer pipe. If money is an issue play the ebay game and get the biggest inline exhaust fan you can afford. Moving tons of air is key to indoor growing when temps and humidity are an issue and its far cheaper than a dehumidifier or a ac. Putting just a dehumidifier in your room when your having heat issues isn't the answer because they put out a ton of heat. I hope this helps

O.K. thanks I really don't see temperature ranges as being the problem here, really, I range from 70 minimum to so far 81 max. F. That may change, when I get the fan and add in the unit I am planning, and will respond accordingly. I did not specify in op that this is essentially an open grow in a basement at the moment, still...I just treated with mighty wash for the 2nd time in a week for 2 plants with mites out of six I sprayed the whole garden, and will hit the two that were confirmed with mites one more time in another week. by then the exhaust should be hooked up and they are going to spend more time outside come the AM around here for at least two days they seem to enjoy it and respond...

I don't think your temps are too bad. Had worse in the past. You'd want to bring it down a bit for flower to 25c.

I wouldn't worry about that humidity in veg, but flower, 100% is too high. I let mine get up to 70% during lights off and have never had an issue.

Your best solution is just a cheap dehumidifier. You don't need it in the tent, I just bring the humidity down in the small room my tents are in and that in turn brings it down. This works and our outside humidity can hit 95-100% often

No room for humidifier or AC in my 3x4x6.5 ft space. Humidity running 31% temps sore to 90+ Vegging at this time. Put a pan of water in room and place fan blowing on the pan. Humidity up to 46%. Temp running 89. Really want up to 55%. Any suggestions to get temps down and humidity up?

Will a humidifier in joining room close to intake fan help bring in needed moisture?
