Granted.
If you're comparing your own grows that used the same environment & veg times then it would be an interesting number that held some mathematical reference.
But for two dudes to compare, having grown differently (+ varying time of veg) is like comparing Apples to Elephants - it's irrelevant and silly.
ya if theyre having a face off and fighting about its silly. But if your comparing notes on gpw i learned a lot from it in terms of plant numbers, veg time tradeoff for weight, pot sizes, light sizes, led vs hps, soil vs soiless vs hydro, scrog vs sog, co2 use, and nutes in vs return. To me its less like comparing apples to elephants, and more like comparing dags to each other. A good dog is appreciated by almost anyone, but they all have different characteristics and excel in different areas, and although you cant make a chihuahua run the track, you can work with a greyhound to get it up to speed because the potential is there. Thats where i think gpw is important, tweeking that grow by comparing it to others methods and gpw score. It could be strain, grow medium, nutrients, co2, lights, pruneing techniques, whatever, but if the veg times close and the gpw is different theres gonna be a winner. Personally i know i could improve my gpw but it would take way more work so count me out. My style is pretty elementry and i dont plan on changing it anytime soon even if i see some amazing looking grows happening around here, theyre just too much work!
As for my gpw, i usually hit around .6-.9 gpw. That works out to a pound and a half to two pounds a light which i think is very respectable. Promix, 1k de lights, seven gallon pots, six per light, three month veg, co2.
