A guy came up behind me while I was chugging up a nice hill in the 65lb velomobile, "are you going to beat me to the rest stop again?" he asked. I said "I dunno!" since there was about a mile of 4.5% (max 9%) left for him to get ahead before the 2.5 miles of 2% (max 5.5%) where we started before, then the 6 miles of -2% descent to the rest stop. With 3.5 miles of climbing before the downhill he got quite ahead of me, and I was not pedaling as hard as before, but I did barely beat him to the rest stop. The last mile and a half is flat and the final 500 yards goes up slightly at 2.2%. He was tucked in on his aero bars and pedaling so hard but it was not enough. My max speed on the descent was only 42.5 mph though.

Hey I got one of my mountain bikes back
IMG_8596.jpegSo this bike. I bought it as a back up bike/another bike for someone else to ride with me after my Tomac 98 special got ripped off out of my garage in stockton. I bought something nicer for myself. I knew GT wasn’t the same, had a performer. Pro performer. Cruiser. Loved GT when I was a kid but they totally sold out. Anyways. Nice series components at least.
This bike survived the fire because is was in storage my other bikes didn’t. They were at my house. I “leant” it to my neice after the fire, they lost everything too, and just got it back. She wasn’t even riding it. Went to my brothers and took it back since it’s just sitting. Still haven’t bought myself another pimp bike though.

When I raced. 26 inch GT all aluminum, profile cranks. Sealed hubs and lite-loc pedals.
My fav pedals were kkt/mtx graphite x when they came out later on. :-) i had so many bmx bikes. The first good one was a robinson with tuff wheel 2’s. Had them swap out the rims that came with it when my mom ponied up and bought it for me. This was in like 1982ish? Loved that bike. Traded the frame and cranks, because robinson had a small bottom bracket, for a cooks bro frame and cant remember what cranks but i think they were cooks brothers? Getting old.

that cooks brothers bike got ripped off in around ‘88 in Pomona ca in front of a thrifty’s. I’m still fucking pissed. Would be worth bank nowadays.
