I hate paying taxes, between federal and the great state of Oregon, they take 24% of my check every week.

The tax brackets gotta be one of the greatest scams ever, some one who makes $18 an hour actually takes home $1997 less a year than someone making $17 an hour assuming they work 40 hours a week all year long. Someone making $19 an hour takes home $730 less a year than someone making $17 an hour. Thats federal, it'd be even more fucked if your state has the same brackets as federal.

Taxes are the price you pay to live in a country with freedom, a good education system, good social welfare and pensions, low crime rates, and a good health care system..... Oh sorry... just noticed your from the states!!!! Haaahahhhaahhha hhhhaaaaaa arrrrggghahahahhh.... Yeah I don't think you know how tax brackets work. Once you hit the new bracket only earnings within that bracket are taxed. For example if the tax bracket was 0% for 0-10k, 10% for 10-20k, and 20% for 20-30k, and you made $25,000 it would break down like this:

$0-10,000 you pay 0% on.
$10,001-20,000 you pay 10% on and
$20,001-$25,000 you pay 20%.

So using the same hypothetical tax brackets if you made $10,010 you would pay 10% tax on the $10 only, so $1 for $10,010 in earnings.

Ok thanks for clearing that up for me! That makes alot more since. Now I feel retarded. It's still fucked to think how much we pay for other's pensions and what not.

Actually we have been your defense since WWII so Europe has been able to put more into social services and its all about to blow up.
When the Euro goes under it will be real nasty but when the dollar goes under right after the euro it will be biblically nasty. The political elite of both countries have been setting the stage and they will soon force their subjects to march off to war as they have done countless times in history past.

Taxes ARE bullshit though, seriously. I believe in a small flat tax, say 5% for income for everyone thats it. I don't care if the wealthy get to save more technically, FUCK BRIAN FROM FAMILY GUY. Government doesn't need big taxes, its the red tape and bureaucracy that have put the United States in the position its in today. Also.. END THE FED!

$17 X 40 = $680 @24% = $163.20 in taxes / (26 pay periods in a year) * (680 - 163.2) = (516.8* 26) = $13436.80 per year
$18 X 40 = $720 @24% = $172.80 in taxes / (26 pay periods in a year) * (720 - 172.8 ) = (547.3* 26) = $14227.20 per year
$19 X 40 = $760 @24% = $182.40 in taxes / (26 pay periods in a year) * (760 - 182.4) = (577.6* 26) = $15017.60 per year
