maybe try starting off with somewhere thats gonna hurt less, like you arm or pek, just to give you an idea. I got mine on my arm and it didnt hurt much, but I reckon anything with alot of detail on your ribs might be tough, maybe ask if you can do it over a few shorter sissions, not all in one hit.
