I have two Tangerine Dreams under 1125W HPS now in 7 gallon containers with Subcool's supersoil recipe @ 92 days (13.1 weeks) 12/12. Temps now averaging around 71F to 77F with an average RH of 35%. They were vegged for 6 weeks under 225W T5s and 2 weeks under 1000W HPS (metal halide bulb blew out). This was supposed to be a 70 day strain. LOL Barney's Farm, I think, was fibbing a little bit. At first I didn't know what to think because these 2 TD specimens were EXTREMELY SLOW in flowering and BF said 70 days; I was getting nervous. I did read that a lot of people are reporting slow flowering. No light leaks now, but about 1.5 months ago, I placed duct tape over the surge protector switch light; didn't know if the uncovered switch lights slowed it down at all. During the 12hr dark period I really didn't notice much light projection from the switches, but even so I decided to cover them.
I feel that TD is a nutrient hog. One of the plants looked like it was gonna die... about 80% yelow/green shade leaves and 10% browning/dead. About 2 weeks ago I added some organic blood meal, organic fishbone meal, organic bat guano, azomite and dolomite and both plants perked up. I was surprised as I thought the supersoil would last the whole cycle. Now giving them some Bud Candy every once in a while with some Demerara sugar. These plants have mammouth stalks and are super strong. They were topped 4 times and I still had to bend the colas down and right now they're at 5 feet with the bend. One plant smells very hazy with no fruit overtones and the other has a really nice tangelo-tangerine-orange scent; fairly frosty, but not overly impressive thus far. These plants reak really bad, imo. lol Not skunky, but something else reminiscent of wintergreen-flavored chew tobacco inside the grow space. LOL BUT, the individual colas don't have that smell up close???
The flowers looked just like kbz's... very fluffy, not dense and the calyxes are tiny-tiny, but starting to fill out and swell just a little. The trichomes are mostly clear with a tad of cloudiness. But I did see an unusually high proportion of immature trichomes with little or no heads. I still think they have at least 2 to 3 weeks to go yet. I finally resigned myself to the idea that these are almost pure sativa in genetics. Hey where's the G13? LOL It looks like these two ladies inherited the Neville's Haze flowering time and I'm ok with that, because I love sativas. Right now there's only two full-plants in the room, the rest (The Purps, 2 X Vortex, 2 X Super Lemon Haze and 1 GHS Trainwreck) already harvested, dried and curing in jars with 65% Boveda Humidipaks.
I'm really looking forward to the TDs. I have small sample buds drying on top of the cloning light right now. Can't wait to try...
