This is my first time posting in a forum and also my first hydroponic auto grow. I have two plants that were put into rapid rooters at the same time. They have had issues the whole time and seemed like they may just be photo periods, but my partner is sceptical. We have been using the 3 part nutrient system of Advanced Nutrients. On day 52 from seed we decided to change the light cycle to 12/12 to see if it would boost in them into flower. They definitely look like they are flowering to me but they were supposed to finish in 65 days. I guess what I am wanting is opinions on whether you would keep going with them or trash them and move on? Thanks for all the input!

1. how are you judging this 65 day harvest from? if by grower journal then don't listen to that bullshit. it is a general guideline it is not concrete information.
2. why would you trash them? you invested time and money into them just continue with the grow in the end it benefits you no matter what. you get buds out of it regardless it might not be the best quality plus it helps you learn from your mistakes. it makes you a better grower.

I personally want to keep going with them because it's been so many days, but my partner keeps pushing because he is afraid they want produce anything. Hopefully I can convince him and we get a little bit of something. I appreciate your input! Thank you! Edit: yes we were going by manufacturers suggested finish time.

Changing light schedule is a no no (I mean you know that already probably) , 20/4 all the way with autos really.

Manufacturers guides are absolutely bollocks , really whatever time they say is from the FIRST appearance of true flowers.

SLH (photo) says is 9-10 weeks flower.......my arse , they go 15-16 weeks easily from 12/12 , 9-10 weeks from first true buds?maybe.

Autos generally take between 4-7 weeks to start flowering.....then you have the whole flowering period........imo many autos especially sativa side ones will go 100 days from seed easy. Got my first all auto grow on now , 6x daiquiri limes and a gigabud , only just starting to really flower at 5-6 weeks old...............so theyre easily going to go another 9-11 weeks in flower.

Keep them ofc! if these are Barneys , the FLOWERING time is 67-75 days , let alone from seed.

Thank you for all the information. We did start them at 20/4, but my partner thought they were not actually autos and I have no clue what I am doing so I went with the 12/12 because he suggested it. Do you think we should change it back to 20/4? I have been thinking autos should get more light, but like I said,I not sure what I doing really so I accept any advice.

It probably wont hurt changing it back to 20/4 since they are still autos , photos it fucks them right up sometimes.

Is this your first, first grow with hydro?or done other methods before.

Its all a learning process , failure is THE BEST teacher around you wont get any better.Theyre definitely no where near done but they look nice and healthy.THE only real way to tell when they are done , is checking the trichomes with at least a 30x jewellers loupe or similar (I use a little monocular 30x and its just enough) , once they are coming NEAR the end of flower , theyll start eating their fan leaves (hairs can turn colour WEEKS before harvest sometimes, ive had this) thats when to be really hot with checking.

My daiquiri limes and the gigabud are 6 weeks old , gigabud might finish earlier but the daiquiris are rated to be 11-12 weeks from seed..........so I am expecting 13-15 weeks really.

This is our 2nd hydro grow. The first were with 2 different feminized seeds that yielded us 10 ounces between them both. We actually grew one tangerine dream auto in soil over a year ago that only yielded 1 ounce. My partner claims that one finished from seed in 65 days but I need to check my journal because my memory is shot lol. We are growing a Critical and White Widow in coco coir in a separate tent. We started them about a month after the autos because we were afraid we wouldn't get anything. The ones in coco are looking awesome! They are just feminized seeds. This is our 4th run trying to grow. We started with a bag seed just because and then got hooked on the growing process and ordered seeds online. Our first hydro grow was our biggest yield. Every other plant we did only yielded about an ounce each. The tangerines are very bushy and have plenty of bud sites. So I'm optimistic that we will get a good size yield if we stick it out. I had read horror stories on some forums about the tangerines and my partner has been doubtful ever since I shared the info. I told him I would share our photos and get opinions and if people agreed with him we would chop them, but so far it seems we should keep pressing on. Thanks again! Oh and good luck with your grow!

Let me start by saying I think autos are stupid, and were a moneygrab by seed producers. I have never really seen any use for an auto plant.

It l ooks like they just started flowering and need 6-9 weeks to do their thing. If they are autos and you switch them back to 20/4 then in theory they should be fine. However if they are not autos and you switch them back they will freak out and probably be a giant waste of time and effort. That could be your deciding factor on whether to keep them. Switch them and if budding stops and they freak, trash them.

Personally I would be tempted to ride it out at 12/12 and see what happens if you've got another tent going too. Those pics don't look unhealthy, and those little buds will grow bigger, but it takes time.

As was mentioned above flowering/growing times are very loose suggestoins. You should basically ignore anyone that tells you how long a plant will take to grow/flower total. Even if your buddy gave you a clone he has ran in his garden, it WILL usually be different in your garden. If your growing from seed the differences get even bigger. Phenotype of the plant and environment have MASSIVE impacts on how long plants take to grow and flower.

Thank you! I think I have convinced my partner to keep going with them. I cannot fully decide on the lights. Part of me wants to give them all the light and then part of me is scared they will get shocked and be wasted.

If they are autos, they need the extra light. If you flip them back to 20-4 or 24, and they stop flowering you will know that they really are not autos. If they keep flowering, you will benefit from a bigger harvest. You win either way

They got a long long way to go thats for sure , my daiquiris and the gigabud are JUST starting to show the beginning of real buds at 7 weeks.......and 2 of the daiquiris are 2.5x the size of the other 4 they rocketed up like mad just like a heavy sativa photo............others are very small......real small but bushy as all hell

Theyre going to be interesting thats for sure.

Autoflower industry times are so far from the mark it is a joke. Ive yet to have one finish quicker than a photoperiod for both veg and flower - i too initially thought they would cut my grow time but nope just a long running lie now.

Just got a speed + from herbies freebies meant to be quickest plant in the world or somthing - complete bollocks :-)

I totally agree that most flower times are rubbish.

With that said a plant can only flower as fast as its environment will let it :).

Little bit of nute burn or possibly some mites from those last pics? Coming up to day 56 on mine , will try get some photos of em , cant believe the size of the 2 daiquiris that rocketed up , theyre 5ft tall

I would love to see photos. I was thinking it was a nute burn because we gave it more during a couple feedings thinking we were not giving enough. I have looked at the leaves with a 30x magnifying glass and did not see any bugs, so hopefully we just over fed it and it will not get worse.

These definitely are not quick growing, but are really looking like they may turn out good.

I believe our environment affected the grow. The humidity was crazy in the beginning and no matter what we did we could not get it in the perfect range. And then during a res change we gave it an extra gallon of water and they looked like they had been 9ver watered for about 2 weeks. After watching them grow so slowly for several weeks we thought it needed more nutes but the leaves showed signs of burns so we reduced the nutes back down. Fir the past 3 weeks the humidity has stayed between 50 and 60. And temp around 70 to 73. I know during a certain time in flower the humidity should be lower to develop more tricombs but I'm not sure we will achieve it.
