Taking Clones from Stunted/Weak Plant? Is it possible?

Hi All!

Out of my 4 starter clones on my first grow, I ended up with one stunted plant. The other three grew nice and big, but this one is still about 8" tall with tiny leaves and growing slow. I think i stunted the plant either when I was first experimeting on how long she would take to dry until next watering, or not having correct PH.

1) So, if I took a few cuttings from her, would the clones end up stunted and weak?.. or as long as I can get a good rooting structure and make sure they are well nurtured in their early delevopment, that I would be able to make the new clones as good as new?

I figured I ruined her because I probably burned her roots with high PH or overdried her roots, making her grow slow because of a weak root system.

So my guess is as long as I can supply the new clones with a well developed rooting structure, it will grow well and strong.

Also a second related question,

2) When pre-soaking rockwool in 5.5ph water, how long do I let them soak for?

and

I read that the RW cube should not be too damped.. How do i take out some of the water without squeezing it, since i also read you should not squeeze it.
( why would they say not to have it damped when you are suppose to soak the damn thing... wtf?)

thank you all for any help or advice. i really appreciate anything. :D

Dont PH anything. Most off my cuttings root in7.0-7.8.If its below 8 i dont touch them.Forget all you have learned and you may have a chance.Never spray the cuttings. If ys feed em through the leaves then they have no reason to root. The Dome should be off @ day 4.Day 7 max you will have roots.

ABSOLUTLY RIGHT!!!!!! I been ph, put ice in aero cloner to keep temps down, root gel, shave, split, clean, everything, and all fail I read someone else said the same thing dont stress them literally forget about it just clip with scissiors and put in cloner dont fuck with them at all just put water in it when it gets low and in about 7 days watch. Good luck.

Cool link but hes PHing. This is just another confusing prep.I cut my girls where I like to also.Node rules are bs.Have a batch on day 6 and no fuckin camera.I'm taking some White Widow next week.Thinking about throwing a manual called cloning for idiots.Ya know like the Math/Chemistry books.Peace

everything in my room is pH'd to 5.8 but I seriously just cut the thickest branch I can off (Direct relation to hardyness of the clone and survivability rate in my anecdotal evidence and anything I've read. I dip immediately in to rootech (have tried it and clonex and rootech is better to me). and slip in a rapid rooter. In 7-10 days of the dope it goes into a bigger pot and they are viracious, I have almost 100% so far.

and to answer your question it depends. If the plant itself is from a different mom and has a genetic disposition to be slow growing then yes you will have a problem (VERY unlikely to me). I would just give it time to make some decent sized clones (give it room for roots to grow and whatnot, then take some clones.

my first attempt at clones were successfull, 7 out of 7 rooted and are now growing lushishly.

why?

because i listened to the people above.. kept it simple.. actually i was pretty neglegent with them being so busy and all, i didnt even rewater the rockwool until after a whole week with dome still on and rockwool cubes being very dry.

and funny enough they still lived and are now in veg.

im in no way saying that my technique ( if u can call it that ) should be followed, but rather be seen as an example of "keep it simple/stupid" works! :)

i feel like im a cloning expert because i literally did nothing and succeeded with what a lot of people on here, especially beginners, are having trouble with.

My Process:
1)soaked rockwool 24 hours with 6-7 ph water and drop of superthrive
2) made cuts at lower section of plant
3) shaved slightly on one side of stem ( did not split )
4) dipped in root gel
5) placed in rockwool
6) placed cuttings in humidity dome for a week and neglect ( not recommended.. take dome off after 4 days and dip halfway in water if rw cube is dry for a few seconds)
7) by this time you shouls be seeing roots on the side and bottom
8) transplant as desired

i still dont know how my clones rooted so visciously, im going to ignore my ladies in flowering and see how they thrive without being tended to.
