Taking clones from a clone reoccurring

I looked on quite a few threads and there were different opinions on both sides. Some people were saying the plant that came from the seed should be the mother plant. Others saying it doesn't matter.

If for example every cycle I grow my plants and take cuttings when I lollipop for the next run will this degrade the genetics in the plant?

Is there a safe amount of times you can successfully keep cloning?

I assumed a clone was a genetic copy so does the plants genetics slowly degrade each time you take a clone from a clone?

Thanks in advanced :)

some say that the clones usualy loose a bit of strength, but i dont believe that, i think you get used to smoking a strain giving the elusion that they are getting weeker. igrew sensi seeds northan lights from the 90's, not a scratch on there new nl5 im sad to say. and took cuttings from the original mother plant, then used the cuttings from her to make new mother plants, and i never noticed any loss in strength, just got used to smoking it, thats why i like to keep several strains on the go for variaty and i dont get used to smoking the one strain

Cheers for the incite. Yeah I've heard from a few bigger growers differing opinions in person as well. But that makes a lot of sense, Don't really know how it would genetically change the plant since its a genetic clone

I had a strain of White Rhino that was clone from clone for 20 yrs, friends are still growing it and it is like it always was.

Cloning a clone of a clone of a clone ad nauseam only loses vigor if you "dud" it by using dirty trimmers, or somehow introducing disease to the plant.

My dad likes to keep his mother plants rather small so he'll often use a clone as the new mother, giving the oversized mother to me or usually just ditching it. I believe he's on his 4th or 5th "new mom" and all is well with it.

That makes a lot of sense considering the disease would now stay with all the future cuttings as well!

Yes you can make a clone sick or not thrive but the genetics will not change if you bring it back to health and take a cutting its good again.

I had the Rhino strain I mentioned earlier, there was a point I was away and had a pump failure and lost the lot, now I spent a lot of time picking the best cuts and getting them uniform no cows and calves, and picked only the best root systems and vigor, anyway when I lost them I had to go get some cuts from a friend I gave them to years earlier, they were nowhere near the quality I had but within a few rounds I was back to where I was before.
