t8 bulbs

hey guys i just had a bud give me a t8 light with 6 bulbs. i really dont know much about them. what type of bulbs will i want for vegging. i m on my way to the shitty as we speak and need to pick them up now. any help will be appreciated as i dont have the time to reserarch this thanks

need 6500k for veg.

can i get these bulbs at home depot or lowes?

I get my T8s at Home Depot. They have the best selection. I like the GE 6500K Cool white.

Hi, Whats the Difference between t5 -t 8 and t12 lights ?

6500k for veg 2700k for flower.

t5HO (high output) produce about twice the lumen and heat per ft as t8's and are thinner bulbs. t12 and t8 are comparable but come in different sizes.

Probably shouldn't but i have a buddy who did, just a shop light in the smoking area but they never shut off, and have been running for probably 2 years now.

so are the t8 and t12 fixtures what we see in shops and garages etc ??? and so they can be used for growing with the right bulbs ?

Yes t8 and t12s are what you see in hallways and garages and warehouses and the like. They can be used to grow but are not ideal. CFLs and t5's are quite a bit better. I use t8's for side lighting: (these were mounted in a hospital for viewing x-ray prints - free when they upgraded to digital)

Yes they are typical shop lights, but are used everywhere. yes you can use them, the have a fairly low lumen/watt, but great to start with til you can afford to upgrade. The best thing about them is the price and avail. T8's are better than t 12's but more expensive too. t5's have come down a lot in price, not too hard to come across an 8 bulb 4' t5 ho with bulbs for $200

for under $200 you can buy a 90w led that will give you better results than a 400w halide, just sayin...

led's are better then hps and mh's?

HELL YES!! they are about 3 to 4 times more effecient than HIDs per watt and they dont produce any heat.. look into it, after i made the switch ill never use mh or hps again.

No offense but sounds like a salesman. LEDs have great potential but the 3 or 5 watt multi spectrum units are super expensive and still don't produce like the manufacturers claim.
