hey i just baught a light fixture that takes both 48" t12 and t8, on the box of the fixture it says 2 t8's will produce 30% more light then 2 t12's but the lumen output on a the t12's are 3050 and the lumen output on the t8's are 2700 so my question is, doesnt that 30% more light produced by the t8 equal out to the t12 lumen output since theres a 350 lumen difference between the 2?

I'd go with the T8's as by the sound of things the ballast is for T12's the 30% brighter because the ballast will run the T8's hotter

Lumenes does not really matter because they are not gonna get er done for the whole grow, these kind of lights are good for seedlings and clones

you have to keep the fatter t12s much closer {touching plants}

so i have 16 vegging plants, my light setup is two 48" 2bulb fixtures with 8 plants in a straight line under each one with daylight t12's. will this work for vegging them up? or should i switch them out for t8's? or should i ditch the fixtures and rig something up with CFL's although i think it might be a little difficult to CFL 16 plants. Any input would help this is a first time grow for me the flowering stage wont be a problem i got 600 watt HPS's for that its the veg im worried about. any input would be great. Thanks.
