T5HO Outer Plastic Shell

I got the Sun Blaze t5ho, and it comes with a clear plastic shell that looks like it protects the bulb or circuitry....

Do you guys leave it on ? Or take it off ?

was thinking take it off for better light penetration...but then I thought maybe it protects your plants from growing into the bulb ?

Hi! Took a look at the photos on the web and I cant see any protective clear plastic anywhere.

I use a diy T5 HO lighting panel and cant think of a reason to use clear plastic for covering my tubes.

It might be to protect the plants from growing in to the tubes, but you definetly loose some light by covering the tubes.

And you have to rise the lights anyway, so...

I wouldnt take it off.

But to be sure, perheps you should check the product manual or contact the customer support service, if they have it.
