t5 way too hot

Seedlings love CFL. Seedlings need no nutes and very very little light at the first as they have no foliage to use for photosynthesis. Therefore it's easy to screw them up with too much light at the first. When they start bending towards a stronger light then move them.

So let me describe...... grow tent all zipped up in laundry room with full ducting and exhaust out the window...laundry room is only 12 x 12 ....is that enough exaust. I have the t5 just hanging open in the room near the tent ....no fans, no way to cool the fixture..ballast is in light....does this change anything?

I know this old but one of you problem is laundry room unless you dont. use them. but if you use the dryer put off major heated humidity (water from wet clothes ) even if its vented outside. Humidity keeps it hot longer and is not easy to cool. I have t5 and i can keep my hand on it all day with out burns . runs about 70 degrees with fan and 74 with out.

Run the fan so that it blows air across the bulbs. Air contacting the bulb will cool them off considerably. I never had a problem with t-5s keeping them 1 inch away. I love em!! T-5s work good vertically too not sure if that will help you but its good to know.

Yep, even a slight bit of air movement should be enough. If it's not than there's a problem with the ambient environment.
