t5 vs mh

I can't decide on what kind of light to get for my veg room, so I thought I would ask you guys. the t5 would have less heat problems but more chances of strechey plants. could I fit more plants under a four foot, four bulb t5 than a 400 watt mh? if I go with the mh, is there any difference in a mh and a hps with a mh conversion bulb? decisions, decisions oh yeah I have a hps for flowering so i'm only worried about vegging :-|

who says a t5 stretches plants?

t5's put off a shitload of light, my plants do not stretch under my t5.

I have a 400w mh ballast and a 1000w mh ballast. I love them both. The beauty of these vs t5's is you can get the conversion bulb and use HPS bulbs in these too, however the HPS to MH ballast will take 40watts off your bulb to use as an igniter for the sodium since the ballast doesn't include an igniter. If you get a sodium ballast you can get MH conversion bulbs for it and lose no wattage.
Or find a switchable ballast.

i have and use both. i used 12 clones i vegged my current grow under a 400 w mh.i use a 1000w hps for flower. then i started vegging 10 seedlings under a 4 foot 4 bulb t5 light 3 weeks later. the t5 light grows a little slower but not strechy at all you can almost let the leaves touch without burning them. the 400w mh puts out 40000 lumens the t5 w 4 4ft bulbs is 20000 lumens and takes 208 watts. i will be usin the t5 to veg my next plants before i put them into flower. the t5 w half the lumens does almost as good of a job as the 400w . so to save money and not really sacrifice bud by vegging w a t5.

Or you could get a 4-8tube t-5 light, turn 1/2 of it on for seedling/vegging plants and then as they get bigger and you want to flower them turn on the other 1/2 of the bulbs. 40,000 lumens mixed red and blue right at the top of your plants. Don't need two fixtures or bulbs. VV
