T5 or hps for veg

Got a 3x3 x 5 1/2 tall tent.
Wondering what would be better for veg.
8 lamp 2ft t5 or 400 watt hps i have both. 400 watt hps runs pretty hot for the tent I have a inline fan for exhaust. Figured I can save sum energy if I just use the fan and hps for flower and t5s for veg. What's better is my question for veg my t5 or hps ?

T5 till about 20 days then hps

I just use led t5s works good for me I just didn't want to get a new fixture should have just went with a qb but what ever

I just have a 2ft 2 bulb t5 until my 8bulb gets here
