im in Michigan and grow in a basement in a commercial building. I also run 3x600 hps in a 8x12x7 room. my basement ambient temps are 73*75*. I use an LG 14k btu model #1415lp, and run it at full speed. keeps my flower room super cool for my girls.

I use the sun now....I cart out several plants in and out everyday. I bought a badass exhaust fan and it still wasnt enough...a/c would do it, but Im too cheap to run an a/c ontop of an already 400$ elec bill. Now my bill will run about 200 tops and Im packin on muscles;) problem with bugs , you may ask...nope. I spray yard , bomb grow seasonally and spray grow weekly..good to go

I run 3x big kahuna hoods all air cooled with 2x8" 720 x cfm fans at 100%, pulling in 73-75 air. my room exhaust air temp is also 73-75*. incoming air from my ac is 60-63*.

id gladly say my shits dialed in.

my veg room is an 5x10x7 tent with 1x600mh in an air cooled big kahuna hood with 1x 6" 440 cfm fan, and 2x 4' 4bulb t8 for side lighting, PLUS 4 more 4' 4bulb t8's for preveg and cloning use, 1x 8" 420cfm intake fan on speed controller and 2x8" adjustable fans for good air circulation.. I run about 79-82* light on

i cant afford an ac and dont really want the extra electric expense. i have seen a grow with 6 1000s air cooled with 10 or 12 inch fans in his basement with no AC. im not sure if he had central in his house but im goin to ask him. thanx for all the info peeps i really appreciate. Peace..... time start researching used portables :wall::wall::wall:

you cant keep cooling air with out and ac in a basement. all the exhaust from the hoods and room will raise the ambient temp of your basement by 10*+ easily. then if its summer and hot as shit out, well you might wanna forget about running your room. even with my ac, inn summer my temps go up 5* than in fall/winter.

and don't exhaust anything out your h2o tank/furnace exhaust stack. it can back draft, potentially blow out the pilots, and create a very dangerous/deadly carbon monoxide situation and kill everyone.

my 14k was 499, plus 100 for a 5yr ext warranty
I also have a 8k btu LG unit as well I was using before I upgraded my room and added another 600. iirc was 298 + 80 for a 5yr ext warranty.

if your local Ill sell ya the 8k for a decent price. my current unit is 6 months old, and been used for 2months, and still 3 yrs on the warranty.

Ok watts the deal with T5 for flower. Good no good. I'm planning on using the T5 vs the HPS
there is a guy on here that only uses t5. his name Rm3 i think. i have read articles of peeps only using t5s. small plants....sometimes airy buds but seems like quality product. i think it has a lot to do with genetics.

Not totally true..it depends on what your running for lights etc. I have a divided 11x8 room, 4x8 flower, 7x8 veg/clone/work area running a combined 1200W, soon adding another 600 to flower, vented to/from an open 1200sq ft basement which is completely underground. so far, during a week+ of 85F or so my basement has stayed under 70F, flower is at 75 and veg at 80. I found just having a box fan circulating the air helps keep the temp down a couple degrees, cement walls underground = heat sinks. I've been thinking of running some loops of Pex against one wall, insulating over it and having a couple small computer fans to draw air over it for a passive cooling circuit. The dehumidifier i just had to get is causing the most heat down there right now..
