I am a grower that uses LED but L have looking into the T5 lights. I would more than likely use the T% for veg but do you also flower with them? I'm sure you would need different light spectrum, right? Looking at 6500 four foot 4 lights..... ebay? Amazon?.... Thanks friends.

How'd that yield White?

I got a free auto from Attitude, not sure what to do with it yet. Wanted to just stick it in my veg tent under 20/4 and leave it under the 6500ks. If it'll produce more with 2.7ks then I'd shell out the extra.

If you are buying a new florescent fixture, which I have 1 room totally committed to using because of ceilieng height, I would get a VHO T5. Pricy fixture and bulbs, but outstanding production with changing colors from blue to red. I would recommend a 5 week veg for plants until you let them go, I think they need the xtra time with t5.. In a 4x4 area I grow 6 plants using a modified Waterfarm system, under 1-
8 bulb, 2x4 t5 VHO fixture. I also use a 2x4 four lamp fixture, which I place 3 plants under, and regularly get 3' plants (right strain imperative), and get mucho bud.

I have 2 1k HPS's, just need something for the auto. The VHOs look nice but a little out of my price range for a single auto.

Yep thats what i do.. i actually have 2 T8s one with 6500k and one with 2700k i use along with other lighting.
Do you dual spectrum ( 2700k & 6500k) for flowering or maybe even veg? Im using dual right now. Does it matter?

Idk. Its personal and don't have a scale. It surprised me. They had a lot of resin. Some of the stickiest stuff I ever seen.

Why not use T8s?

T8 = 90LPW
T5 = 99LPW

As you can see, as far as performance, the T5 in this setting barely beats T8 as far as CRI and LPW values. If you didn't understand the numbers and compare all of the variables, you could get stuck with lighting that costs much more....even though you are not getting any better lighting.

With the numbers being this close, you could never justify the substantial increase in fixture, lamp and ballast costs which is what you would get with the T5 in this case

I put double-bulb 4' T8's in the corners of my flower room for supplemental lighting. They had one bloom and one veg bulb each. I had plants with branches right next to the bulb.....and they pointed AWAY from the T8 and towards the HID's. They had zero interest in the T8's.

These fixtures now light up my basement.....which is what they're good for.

Yes - but look for a 2,400K - as mentioned . there is also a formula to determine the # of "lumens" needed for your growing space - the '"lumens" are listed on containers along with the other information. Then again some folks use a 5,000K (just 1) along with the other 2,400K to give a tptal light spectrum (more like mother nature)

Not only pricey, they are inefficient. almost 800W per 8-tube fixture is a lot of money for the monthly bill.
Still less than a 1000w HID, they produce less heat and you can place them very close to the plants, so they do have some good points.

T8's are looking like they will be discontinued! The amount of Mercury and other things in the bulb and the disposal methods needed for large users, has the Feds considering a ban!!! I would suggest you avoid T8's till they figure this one out......

Here again is a perfect place to mention these 2 threads.......Take the time to read into the first one deeply.....Riddle only uses T5's and does NOT swap lights to the low K range for bloom!!!! In fact he runs "deep blue" aqua plant lights mixed in for better actual sun "spectrum".......Anyway, read these.

Will a photoperiod flower in 20/4 with 2700k and 6500k lights?
NO,,,,I added spectral information on that first thread I linked.....read that and understand more about PAR and Pfr lighting..
