Hey so my ladies are a couple days under 3 weeks from germination, I have them under a 600w vipaspectra but u want to switch them to a 1000w mh buld. When should I do this? They're almost a foot tall. Also what's going on with the second ones leaves?20200827_103837.jpg20200827_103834.jpg20200827_103831.jpg

i love my 1000w mh bulb, its like a humungus dildo. yeah give em some real light, they will love it. never mind the wasted wattage, unless you can afford a smaller 400w mh lamp. i allways use the 400 b4 the 1000.

I should note that you appear to have the beginnings of a deficiency going on in that first picture.
Why? Because they are yellowish in the centres? I'll call that and raise you an 'It's growing fast and the centres take some time to go fully green as they get exposed to light.' :)

Your leaves are showing signs of heat stress @Zakfred so keep that 1000W 24" from them to start with. Like @go go kid mentioned it's best to up your light as the plants get big enough to absorb all those extra photons. I start under fluoros and LED then move on up thru 400, 600 and then 1000W HIDs as the need arises. Even have a Light Rail 4.0 to get more coverage with a smaller light as power is pretty expensive here and the mover only uses 9W and can almost double the effective footprint.

I'd be sticking to your LED for now until they get bushy enough to take advantage of a 1000W. They look like they are just starting to take off and should be ready for mega-power in a couple weeks.

Good luck and good growing!

The mottled lightness, it will manifest as a mag def, and more light will really make it pop. Look at the second node from top, the fan leaf.
That's just the crappy blurple lighting. Let's see them under normal light @Zakfred. All sorts of threads here bitching about nOObs posting blurple or yellow pix asking about problems with their plants. A 5000K LED bulb casts nearly perfectly balanced light to be able to observe all the nuances of deficiencies etc to those of us that know what to look for like @Renfro does.

Most 'deficiencies' in young plants are not. If anything maybe the pH is too high and some things are having trouble being absorbed. As the plant is trying to grow rapidly with still not a lot of roots it runs out of stuff it needs that are within it's reach so supposed N or Mg deficiencies seem to be happening. What is happening is those nutes are mobile and can be relocated to the rapidly growing tops that need it more. The plant 'steals' them from the old leaves first so they begin to show signs of deficiencies. Then nOObs toss all sorts of crap at their plants and kill them with kindness.

A lot more plants die from too much TLC than die from neglect.

Mobile nutes are N, P, K, Mg and Zn. Everything else is immobile and once in a leaf or other plant tissue is unavailable for further growth. When the immobile ones are lacking you will see problems with the newer growth in the tops. Mostly that is caused by the pH being too high as most of them other than Ca are needed in such small amounts that an actual lack of them in the root zone is very rare.

Speaking of Ca when I see someone post that spots on fan leaves are needing CalMag I have to laugh. Low Ca shows up first on new or mid-growth leaves as it's immobile and if it's not in the root zone then the plant will start showing deficiencies. CalMag is not the magic bullet as many seem to think it is. As low Mg becomes advanced brown spots appear on affected leaves.

Here's a great deficiency/excess pictorial chart. When you think you have a particular problem look real close at the clues around each particular nutrient. Waht you think may be your problem could be something else entirely. Most of what I've seen in the last 12 years in forums is pH/water related. If you use hard tap water your pH is going to go off scale upwards and mixing your nutes to 6.0 isn't going to do squat about that. Minerals in your water build up and you'd need to feed at pH4 forever to change it.

Save this chart for future reference.

Bake according to the recipe for cookies. Decarb the THC first.
I got to call you on that too. 250F for 45 min is lots to decarb pot but 12 min at 375 will do the job just as well so if you start with decarbed pot you will be breaking THC down to CBN and dulling the buzz. If you want a more sedative buzz to help with sleep then OK but if you want to get really buzzed and party then just don't do it.

90% of my pot consumption is edibles and I've been making my own for decades. My latest fresh bud cocobudder is the best yet in ease of making and effectiveness. The less trimming I have to do the better and with fresh/frozen bud you're not losing a lot of terpenes.

I don't judge pot by how baked I get but how it makes me feel both physically and mentally. The baked part is just a bonus. lol

yo man first of all thanks for the advise, I really appreciate everyone here trying to help me rn. So I don't really want to veg them for that long, they're about three weeks from germ rn and I was hoping to switch them to flower in a couple weeks. How big should I let them get in veg? I want to scrog them to most get the most out of my 4x4 as possible. so what height would be optimal? they've also been topped and three are stretching quite a bit but I think that's just chemdawg... also any other tips would be greatly appreciated, I want to be the best grower possible! I want to learn how to grow craft cannabis.

When you flip, the plants will double in size. Sometimes triple in size.
Take that into consideration when you make the adjustment

If you want to do a proper ScroG where you tie the growing branches down to the screen then you veg longer to get the scrreen almost full before flipping then continue to tie the tips down until the stretch is over. Then you have a canopy that is only about 6 - 8" above the screen at the end when it's time to crop. Double your yield easily.
