Switching lights/upgrading dramatically during flower?

I'm wondering if any of you have switched (upgraded!!!) lights -- type of light, watts/output, etc. -- in the middle of a grow and if you found it had a negative effect? How about specifically in the middle of flowering?

My situation now is that I have two rooms, and I just finished my DIY COB light, and its 6 Cree 3070's that I want to replace 2 Optic 120's (a total of 4 Vero 18's), and the plants are four weeks into flower. Would that increase in light intensity at this point in its life-cycle shock the plant (maybe into thinking it was mid-summer again by increasing light intensity when "naturally" it would be decreasing?)?

And... if I do that, I would be replacing a very basic LED and some CFL's in another space with the Optics. Same concerns, the Optics with their lenses would be way more intensity then what they have had up until now.

The history I have with this is that earlier in the summer I had one plant in a room and it was a hot summer run, and I was having heat problems and trying all different kinds and amounts of light on it, moving from burple to COBs and back again. The plant went hermie, which actually surprised me at the time but in retrospect is not surprising at all. Which is why I'm wondering....

Thanks --

Just start with the light high and let them adjust. If you change intensity too much you can shock them.

Light is light more or less. Of course it will have an impact. If you are providing a more complete spectrum in the wavelengths needed for photosynthesis and growth they should improve. With the standards warnings about heat etc. Place them at a distance and then move them in gradually. It should take days, not weeks, for them to acclimate.

Thanks for the feedback. My DIY is somewhat of a work in progress, and this morning I just got the dimmer switch installed (works on 4 of the six lights, long story), so that should help. With the Optic I'll probably take the lenses off for the first few days and then put them back on to ease the transition. Things that occur to me in the light of a new day.

Thanks again for the responses -

I'm constantly going from a 400W MH veg to a 600W MH in flower one of my tester veg tents is small and the plants do just fine going into the flower room with more light depending on how much more you might need to raise the lights a little as posted above

Did you notice any negative effects from upgrading in the middle of flower?
