Switching Lights During Flowering?

I've been flowering under a 400w MH for about 3 or 4 weeks and just switched the bulb out for the 400w HPS. Does anyone else do this during flowering? Does doing this have any benefits or should I have just changed the light 4 weeks ago when I started. I wish I could use both MH and HPS but i just don't have the room or the cooling power for 2 400w lights. So I'm looking for some feedback on the mid-flower-switch.

Some growers will start flowering with their MH to reduce stretch, but that usually only lasts about a week. If you switch to HPS now I don't think it'll have a terrible effect on your yield, the spectrum maybe wrong but it is still 400w of HID lighting

Doesn't the HPS put out a lot more lumens than the MH? Will it speed up my flowering stage now that I've ventured into the correct light spectrum?

correct hps puts out more lumens per watt. It wont speed up your flowering but will produce fatter buds.
So do you think I will achieve a different quality bud splitting the flowering stage under 2 light spectrums? What do you think they may be like? Would I have been better off just switching right to the HPS? I was aiming for buds that would be frothy but heavy...lol the american dream

Not done it before, but why dont you buy dual spectrum HPS bulbs then you wont have this worry as the dual spectrum bulbs are high in the blue spectrum aswell as the red. The blue spectrum will help keep your green leaves healthy, the red spectrum will be used for the bud formations.

I run MH for about 7-10 days then go hps and finally back to MH the last 2 weeks. the MH in the last weeks increased resin production and since in the end they dont pack on as much weight I prefer to get as many trichs as possible

you get the best of both worlds with the sonagro bulbs, they have all the lumens of hps with a bit more blue, you see plants use far more red light than blue so the halide bulbs put out much more blue than the plants need.....not that thats a bad thing but your best buds are grown with hps lights
