Switching from Passive Hydro to Aeroponics

So i have some (10) 4" rockwool cubes sitting in a cat litter pan, they are about 8" tall. If i wanted to switch to Aeroponics using 5" net pots, can i just line
the bottom of the net pots with 1.5" clay rocks, then set the rockwool on top? Or will the rockwool get soaked and root rot?

I was thinking that they would stay semi dry with the buffer. Also i was thinking of doing a 15 min on/45min off? or maybe a 15min on/1hr off. I have a timer sitting around that does 15min increments, or do i need to buy a timer like this one?

aroe is supper hard... but a realy good move its the best system in my eyes.. its also hard either steril or benies, but you must know how to trouble shoot and have extra pumps and extra chillers just incase also know what line up of nutrients you must use some will stick to you moter because of the metals in the nutes check with hydro store and be very clean look out for brown algea its a bitch and to this day i fight that shit like the like a demon in water..

Ive purchased some Hollands Secret nutes, ive been using them in my passive hydro. As for the chillers i was thinking of going with a couple frozen water bottles, just dropping them in if need be. As for the pump im a little strapped for cash, but figure for the first cycle im sure the first pump will work fine, then i can buy a second for a backup when i get the cash.

oh man i realy sugest you rethink this i do areo and have for a few years its a bitch but once you get it down it on.. good luck im just letting you know you will push the plants to un heard of frost and yields and size i shock alot of people on the regular i find it funny but if you go aroe you pritty much become a slave im not lien and im not kidding rethink you life hours if you are a outie tipe of person because pumps can go out your electrical company might take you down for 8 hrs or so and you can get a sever algea infection within hours and its a bitch pumps go out over night chillers go out and to clean your shit out while live plant r in them is a fucken bitch but if you do get it down you will be very good at it.. good luck

I do everything 110%. So is it possible to switch to aero with my 4” rockwool? Also I prefer to start the clones atleast in 1" rockwool for now (due to space limitations in the veg room, until I rebuild the spaces) can I put the 1"cubes further up in the clay rocks?

Yes you can set the rockwool on some clay rocks in the net pots that's what I always do and I surround the sides and sprinkle a few on top usually too
