the first two weeks you don't see much in terms of bud, mostly just the plant stretching, then you will start to see the pistols developing for a week or two, then finally you will see some bud development..its gonna be slow at first, but after about two weeks or so after it starts, it will really take off... it will slow down again and you will get one last swell towards the end of your flowering period..

I saw the beginnings of bud formations at about week 2-and-a-half weeks, with my indoor plants. But every strain is different.

Almost every Kush strain I've heard of, was Indica dominant, or 100% indica. This means, when the bud starts comin', it'll come FAST! You should be ready to harvest your smoke in 2 to 3 months, as most indicas bud fast and finish early. To help you harvest at the perfect time, you'll need one of these. http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2179604 This Illuminated Microscope allows you to see when your trichomes are at their perfect milky or golden ripeness. Your gonna' want to start checking your trichs in about 6 or 7 more weeks.

Hope this answers some questions, bra.

What's the definition of a bud? The very beginning of bud formation doesn't look like a bud, but instead, it looks like a compaction of normal new leaves starting. In this case, they don't grow into single leaves...they form a bud that we're all familiar with. Depending on genetics (i am not familiar with your specific plant) you will see a 'difference' in the top of your branches in short order (two weeks give or take).

Based on your post, you should be seeing a difference now.

Hope this helps.

In the mean time, HAPPY NEW YEAR!

thats actually exactly what im seeing at the moment is the compaction of, what appears to be new leaves. and the genetics of my plant is afghan kush x black domina. it seems that the new growth is very compact and dense. so it sounds like im right on track with what you are saying. brilliant! thanks very much! it does help greatly! and happy new year to you as well! and also to everyone else!
