Switch Light 18/6 to 12/12 With New Seedlings

Hi Guys,

I am new to growing, but so far my 2 month old strains of Sour Diesel are now ready to be switched from 18/6 lighting to 12/12.

I recently just ordered another strain of weed, Lemon OG, and just germinated them. They have recently just sprouted (you can see in the picture at the front). Ignore the other plants of Basil and Tomato there LMAO.

Because I don't have 2 tents with 2 lights - I want to know, what will the impact be on a new seedling to switching the light from 18/6 to 12/12 for the mature 2 month old Sour Diesels for the new seedlings of a different strain? Will I still be able to grow the other seedlings just fine at 12/12??

The seedlings will be forced to flower early and will basically yield nothing.

Many grow 12/12 from seed....it works fine but as renfro said, it becomes a numbers game. 1 plant 12/12 from seed isnt gonna yield much

Thank you for your response. When you say numbers game, do you mean it's luck?
I'm here in California - so I am trying to determine whether to stick the plants outside but it's cold.

No. It means that the shorter time the plants spend in veg phase, the less yield you'll have overall. Going 12/12 from seed will yield the absolute least amount of product. One week veg, a little more yield. Two weeks veg, more yield etc.

Would it be better to then grow these plants outside then, instead of keeping it in the grow tent whilst on 12/12? Thanks!

Depending on the environment outside and how much sunlight there is per day, yes, you can veg outdoors for as long as you like (or the size of your flower tent dictates), then put them into flower.
