Molasses can be used throughout a plants life cycle in soil or coco. This is not to feed the plant but to feed the bacteria that live in the soil/coco. These bacteria cheleat nutrients in the soil into forms of nutrition the plant can easily absorb. As Jorge says, in the last 4 weeks of flower, the plant can use the sugars for bud growth.
After first time I used it during flower, I was checking the trichs and got some crystals on my hands, knowing these were laden with thc and being tight, I licked my fingers, yummmeeeee. I was surprised how sweet they were.
Advice has to be, in soil/coco, use molasses with plain water (not on a feed watering) throughout the grow in a water, water, feed schedule, increasing dosage in the last 4 weeks.
