Sweet Seeds "Green Poison"......

I've studied up on it, and some of the more respectable growers I know let them sit in the dark for 3-5 days believe it or not. I do sometimes, others times I don't....agreed, not sure what difference it makes if any. Since they are very well done anyway, I'm leaning on passing on the darkness and just chopping. I'm thinking of starting to cut on Wed, that will take me well into Thurs as well. I'll make the final decision tonight after I water for the last time......

Yeah wow, 3-5 days hey...I couldn't wait that long, knowing they are to be chopped ha ha. I'll still do my 2 days as I still feel it does something!
Great work mate, you've got a busy few days ahead of you!! Stay high mate!

Spent 9 hours today cutting, I have about 4-5 hours more tomorrow. Looks fantastic, couldn't be happier. Pic's up tomorrow night

Weight looks solid, 3+ lbs. for sure. Uniformly done, sweet skunky stink, nice size buds up and down the plants.

NICE!! That's a solid yield of some good quality meds mate! Top work :)

OK....here you go. Today went a lot better than I expected, only took a few hours. Here's everything drying, a lot of decent size cola's hanging (around 85 of them), and not as much small stuff this time. Notice the floor heater and fan behind the smoke that I run on low just to keep the temps decent (so no mold) and the air circulating........

Well it's definitely over 3 lbs......just not sure how much yet. More happy with the quality than the weight I think. I only ended up with 23 plants...I gave one of them away 2 weeks ago to a buddy who is fighting MS and needed some med's. Room cleaning day tomorrow, lots to do.....

Just a quick update....

Quality, as expected, appears to be outstanding. I think I'm seeing around 35% or more amber or various states of pink/red/purple and the rest a nice full cloudiness. I would say 57-59 days flowering is perfect for this strain. The buzz is mostly heady, maybe 70/30 sativa as opposed to Sweet Seeds claiming it's 70/30 indica which is very doubtful at this point.

Weight though, is another story. I think I'm looking at about 40 oz, not close to 50. Although there were tons of cola's and such, the density just fell short- they sure aren't kushes (and aren't suppose to be). Skunks just aren't as dense and don't hold there thickness like kushes do after drying. The plants closer to the lights did a lot better weight wise, which makes sense of course. Bulbs were new so that wasn't an issue. Next time, I may either add an additional light OR pinch more or go with a longer veg period or, or, or.........I need think about it some more to decide but I'll be back the strain again shortly. Actually, while considering it- as the strain goes more sativa like, the weight is suffering some- I'll need to talk to Tommy from Sweet Seeds and see what he thinks about it.

Everything is still drying and the crystals are really popping so GREAT bag appeal. I'll pipe in again when everything is dried and weighed for my final report.

DNA's Lemon OG Kush seeds going in the soil tomorrow for an early July finish.......

OK...final post here on a regular basis as I'll start up the Lemon OG Kush grow later today in a new thread.........

First to Mo......thanks for your input and following along. As there has been over 1600 thread views, it obvious people are curious about the strain but don't have much to say. LOL

So, around a 4 week veg, with a 57-58 day flowering period. As I've said numerous times, G.P. doesn't get super high marks in any category but gets good marks in a lot of areas. As an example, superior potency often means low yield or great sativa may mean 12+ weeks flowering, etc., etc. Easy to grow and manage, seeds were cheaper price than most and they were all fresh and viable. Done relative quickly, potency is a sold 8/10 or 8.5/10 but yield was way off this time- I ended up with 39 oz total, and haven't made the cold water hash extraction yet. I used to get around 2.1/4 oz per plant, this time it was only 1 1/2 oz- go figure?????

Smell is a sweet and skunky with a fruity undertone. Every single bud is covered with resin from top to bottom. I pinched every plant once at day 21 in veg and everything stayed nicely short and manageable. Some lollipopping was done on plants I could reach. No bugs, deficiencies, issues or problems at all. I maintained the pH at 6.4-6.5 and never had to go above 1200 ppm with fertilizer. 24 plants (23 in the end) under 2200 watts (2000 watts when the "super" was turned off on the ballasts). R.O. water only!

12 total hours spend trimming to the end, better than usual- more developed colas made them ripe for hanging instead of trimming buds off stems.

The buzz........more sativa like, maybe 60/40. It's a spacey high, relaxing and long lasting. Not overly potent, it's easy to function and get things done. Taste is great on the tongue, smell is wonderful to the nose. There is a strong stink when burned so be aware. I sleep great with it and don't need much of a dose- just a bong hit or two and I'm toasted.

Lastly, Sweet Seed finally did release the genetics, Sensi Seeds Early Skunk X Skunk. They kept it hidden for years and years, don't know what changed or why they finally decided to spill the beans. I'll post a dry bud picture shortly......

Hey mate, no probs at all, I've really enjoyed your grow!! I'm sure people are interested in the strain, they're probably more caught up in the hype if the day strains though!
Sucks you didn't end up with the yield this round too man, very odd! May have been a slightly different pheno that yields less. Sounds like overall, it's good meds though so that's what matters most! Cheers for the detailed log too mate and I look forward to seeing the Lemon Og kush!!

A pic at day 40 in flowering......very, very stinky sweet skunky smell- very hard to control at this point. Even at night it seeps thru the cracks at the door. Quite healthy and buds are thickening up nicely. This room will take me at least 2, maybe 3 days to trim properly- loads of bud sites, even below the canopy you are seeing. I'll probably cut the light back to 11 hours in week 6, to further the finishing process along but still figuring on going to 9 weeks (63 days for you mathematically challenged) even through Sweet Seeds continues to list 49 days as the finishing point- maybe for some but not for me. Started adding Botanicare Hydroplex (0-10-6) in small doses to help the thickening of buds to progress. Been using Flying Skull Z7 to keep roots very clean and white (an enzyme).....by the way, the picture is of the right side of the room- can't fit it all in the frame. And at some point I'll have to start going thru and picking off some of the larger fan leaves to let more light penetrate downward, maybe in a week of so.......

This strain has taken some steps backwards, as new seed runs have been made. They are advertising the fast version in High Times, latest issue, and the fast version has gotten even worse as the high quality has really dropped off. When sshz was a tester and grew numerous crops of it, it was really good. These years later now, there’s way better strains to be grown and personally I’d pass on it in the future. American breeders are producing way better stuff than the Spanish/European breeders are these days. Look for Oni Seeds or Ethos seeds to name just two- worlds better IMO.

To be clearer, the yields have dropped- this used to be a 9/10 yield wise. Now it's about a 7.5/10. And potency, which averaged around 8/10 or 8.5/10, now is maybe a 7/10. Look for sshz final grow of it, he reports about the quality drop as he was an early tester of it and was credited by Sweet Seeds (Tommy G.) for the strain resurgence 3-4 years ago.

Lmaoo thanks dude dont know how I didn't see that. Thanks for answering back fast. This is my first go with this strain alot of people say alot of variation in strain but I didn' get no variation at all. I'e been growing for prob 10 years so I'm pretty sure I'm gonna get some nice potency from her. Juat posted a new update of the 3 girls im growing. Go have a look :). Happy smoking

I'm back and here's the point.......when I started growing this strain- it was a back burner strain for Sweet Seeds, one it appears they gave up on and weren't promoting at all. I had a great grow, posted it on many sites i.e., ICMag, RIU, MedicalMarijuanastrains, a bunch of other places. The strain was great, heavy yield, easy to grow, nice solid potency, etc. I grew it 6 straight times, 24 plants each time. People loved it and I loved growing it. But the bad news is after it gained a massive following, the seeds sold out and Sweet Seeds had to make another run or two to inventory it again. With that, the quality declined, which often happens because of lost mothers, poor parent choices or selection, etc. After taking some time off to grow other things, I grew it again and was very disappointed in the quality. Yield had declined, buzz was weaker, just not the same anymore. Then I grew the fast version, which finished 1 week earlier and it was even worse. Mind you, I was a tester for Sweet Seeds and I promise you I grew more of it than probably anyone at the time or since then. You'll have decent success, it's ok. But why grow a "B" grade strain when there are so many "A's" available today? But if you're used to European genetics, which I don't have any confidence in anymore, maybe you'll be happy with it. Here's my original picture that got everyone's juices flowing........resin smear and all!

When was the last time you grew the strain brother?. I am doing the green poison fast version, I am thinking maybe/ possibly they have re stabilized the strain since you grew it last as the girls I'm growing all look the same, have a crap ton of trichomes and yield looks like it is gonna be fairly high by harvest, very pungent flowers. I have grown various strains, by DNA, bomb seeds, Dutch passion, cali connection and I can say in my own personal experience the green poison fast version has been the most stable thus far. Not saying your wrong about what your saying and could be possible I just got lucky and got stable phenos or again they may have stabilized the strain since you grew it last.
