Surface roots?

Noticed this last week in a clone I transplanted a couple weeks ago. The coir had been sitting in a tub for a while so I thought it might be some kind of mycelium but it’s definitely roots.

Is this a thing?

Yep, normal...there's two types of roots...thicker down the bottom, and thinner up the top. I usually just add medium if I can. They will happily die off and turn into organic matter and rinse/repeat. An enzyme brew like cannazym will turn any dead roots into a usable form of nutrition.

Just looks like you have healthy root growth. I had a few plants that drop roots from an inch above the medium and chase the moisture.

Awesome thanks guys. I’ve noticed some near the surface before but they were already green and always looked like they were growing down.

having so many white ones poking up from all angles tripped me out.

yeah I agree, the plant grows according to where and what it’s planted in, I’ve seen plants grow really well in heavy clay, there’s no aeration from an indoor soil mix perspective so I’d say the plant does its thing to adjust

This is a clone from a landrace Sativa, so that’s a good sign.

I’m gonna need all the help I can get lol.

I botched the original so bad I gotta redeem myself. Ph pen was way off for a while, it doesn’t like more than 250-300ppm, and then I was using 55f water which caused even more lockout
