sure to grow

Has anyone here ever used sure to grow products? I have been using them for about six months or so and I like the results and the cleanliness of the product. The only problem is that they have to be blacked out or they get algae and a lot of it. I just tape the black white plastic over my drain table and cut three long slits for plants and then tape it up after plants are and in. There is very little slime build up and easy to clean. I got healthier faster growing plants and more flower production over rock wool. Rock wool took more cleaning and the plants grew slower. I am thinking of doing a sea of green wall to wall with the sure to grow, but cleaning the flood table will be impossible so I need some input. I am thinking drain res every six days to make sure slime doesn't build. Tell me what you think or have experienced please.

I had read it flattens out over time.. its a cotton like material. I was going to try the 6" blocks they sell but after hearing they become half their size over time was kinda turned off. Local grow store stopped selling them too because of everyone complaining of algae problems.

those blocks are HORRIBLE. I was all about them and everyone warned me, but I had good luck with them my first time using them..

The truth is those cubes will get nasty, bacteria growth and you cant get rid of it.. it will mess you ph and entire grow..

I switched to medium less and never turned back

I didn't get any algae growth because I blacked out the media, but until the plants got over 14 inches I had to keep res running at 10 mins because they hold an assload of water and growth was slow with heavy watering times. The media never shrank it stayed about 4 inches thick and once roots started to fill in it actually expanded from the root growth. I was very happy, but still concerned with the slow growth because of high water retention. Once the plants got a got root structure they went nuts. I am maybe going back to rock wool so I don't lose that two weeks, that is two weeks of power and nuts kind shot verses rock wool. I hate going back to growstone, but I don't have to use a cover and the plants grow like hell is on fire through every stage of flower all way to the end. I just start with a root riot plug clone and then move to a 3x3 rock wool plug for a couple of weeks then into square pots with grow stone.
