So I finally got a peak at my grow. the plants that i used hydroton mixed with 30% crushed coco shells was started in 2 gallon buckets then placed in tubs and filled with the same about 1.5 inches deep. they have about a 1/4 inch of solid roots covering the entire bottom of the 18" x 3' tub. what a pain is the ass washing out hydroton and crushed coco shells. was it worth it? heck yeah, My sure to grow was just fine in the buckets but barely any roots grew in the stg mat I placed em on. My next round is already in stg but I will place the buckets on top of about an inch of hydroton and coco shell and ill fill around the sides with another inch or so to fill out the tubs. So my take is sure to grow is fine for starting plants. It works well but not so hot for the finish. I had the stg on timers with drip rings 30 on 1.5 off during light. on for 15 mins 3 times at night. the hygroton and coco was fill and drain 5 times during light. never at night so that could have played a factor. im going with fill and drain next round also. just my 2 cents
