supplemental lighting

just moved into a new house it has 4 6' florescents all with 4400k bulbs in them that i will not be needing for any other purpose. i know this is not the ideal color temp for plants but was thinking about using them for sidelighting. Currently im flowering with 2 1000w hps units. Anyone have input of this spectrum ...is it usable or should i save my electricity and invest in correct color? Any help is much appreciated

4400 kelvin is very close to common Daylight, very good to veg under, save some cash and grow under these, you will need a min. of 600w hps to make them shine, or you can add 50% 2700k, keep to within 1-2 inches hang on chains adjust daily, add a small fan, and a temp gauge
