Supplement HPS with cool CFL's for Veg..

I have read that you can veg with HPS, but it's not ideal. My cheapie light (but i like it) will not accept a MH bulb. I'm using a Sun Systems 150w HPS. This provides 16,000 quality lumens. I am still designing my new tent and am thinking 4 sqft, so I could use a few extra lumens any way.. I am thinking I will use the HPS for veg and toss in a few Cool CFL's to make up for the color spectrum and add some lumens.

Either that or I can just continue to Veg with CFL's.. They seem to work out fine. I am happy with my CFL results so far. Nice bushy plant,.

What would you guys do? Run the HPS and CFL side by side or just stick with cfl for veg?

As always, thanks for the advice..

Vegging under hps only.

As you can see the plants aren't that big, but they have a decent root structure so far, and I think during flower you'll no longer be able to see the lover half of that net pot through the roots..

I use hps in my mommy veg rooms because the strong stemmed stretch between internodes makes it easy to get a bunch of big cuttings.

If you want compact tight internodes metal halides are best imo. CFL lighting can cause leggy weak stemmed stretch due to lack of intensity. Adding the CFL blues in addition to your hps might mitigate some stretch.

Any of that make sense? I'm pretty high. :)
