Supersoil for lazy Canadians.

I've built my own soil like many others here. It was costly and time consuming but I did enjoy the learning experience. Anyway, I stumbled across a local company (in BC, Canada) who makes a bagged soil that comes with pretty much everything I was putting into my home-made supersoil. It's not cheap at $30cdn for a 40L bag but for what it is, I think the price is actually cheap. Just thought I'd throw this out there for any of my fellow Canadians who wanted to try an organic soil but were either too confused about building their own or just don't have the time for it. You can always use this soil as your base and tweak it to your liking.

I will likely be trying out a few of their other products as well.

Here's a list of ingredients.
Coconut Fiber, Composted Forest Material, Feather Meal, Fish Bone Meal, Guano, Gypsum, Greensand, Kelp Meal, Mycorrhizae, Non-GMO Alfalfa Meal, Organic pH Adjusters, Peat Moss, Perlite, Rock Dust, Rock Phosphate, Soybean Meal, Wormcastings.

Looked into this before building my own soil. But I made my own with @Rasta Roy help and it was simple... so simple that I'm adding more organic beds to my garden in the near future. Bio-live from down to earth.... I'll just leave it at that.

You could also build your own for a lot cheaper.

Especially in Canada. Y'all own the peat moss bogs. Using coco fiber in their soil mix doesn't make much sense.

That's so cheap! I'm in Michigan I only pay a couple bucks more if I buy it retail.

Looks like some less than ideal ingredients made their way into that soil, unfortunately.

May as well build your own so you can omit the arsenic and poor dusts / metals...

• for example, I would ixnay the feather meal,
• upgrade the rock phosphate,
• add neem (missing altogether!),
• swap out perlite for something way better (no biochar, DE or pumice?) hmm..

On top of that...

• the guano will be gone before its needed,
• the precious myco will be dead before it inoculates roots (lives for just few days in a soil with no roots),
• alfalfa will add unwanted leafage (I would use a seed tea IF and when needed),
• plus you can cut the soy out (GMO likely),
• and know your rock dust / numbers much better,
• not to mention have fresher, much more alive castings. Those probably grew up on cardboard and factory farm poop rich in delicious hormones and antibiotics, yum)
• Plus the forest compost might leech N, I know a lot of products aren't screened or aged to spec and when thats the case, it causes big problems.

Far from medical grade, thats for sure,

But at least they tried, I guess.

Thanks for the responses. I have made my own soil through recipes found on RIU and luckily I have some ingredients still around such as myco, guano, glacial rock dust and a few others.

The reason I posted this link is for people who either don't have the time or concern to build their own soil. This offers a great alternative to doing it yourself. Of course it's not perfect but it's a hell of a lot better than any other bagged soils I've seen around here. I amended these bags of soil with quite a few other ingredients so I won't be able to say for certain how good or bad the BlueSky soil is but this grow is looking good so far. It's a mix of Bodhi strains.

I threw my plants into 5 gallon pots a few weeks ago and switched them into flower 4 days ago. I'm bottom watering the 5g smart pots in 18" trays. I give them some water every day, almost as much as they ask for.

I have seen your recipe. I will actually try it out in the spring when I prep my outdoor grow. I do get that building my own is better but I was pretty happy to see this stuff available here. It might be more effective than people think, especially if it's combined with a couple other products they sell.
