Supersillybilly's Light Experiment

Hey buddy sounds like an interesting experiment i'm subbed, I was thinking, maybe 7/12 would affect the yeild, but what about doing 8/14, bringing the total number of hours closer to twenty-four and also adding an hour of light? just an idea.

That won't work because your giving them more then 12 hours of dark and that will start to cause problems. I think doing any thing more then 12 hours of dark is gonna hurt your yield more.

Exacly but doing 14 hours of dark will make your yield lower unless you give your plants 9 hours of light and 14 hours of dark
eh I wouldn't mess with the 12 hours of light, that seems proven time and time again.

but, tricking them into a 19 hour day.. i am interested to see if that shortens the 8 weeks into 6 weeks, yield or not

I'd expect not only a low yield, but likely some hermis as well.

But it's good to see folks experiment

I would suspect that shortening the hours in the day will affect their growth overall... but maybe if you continued to do it for several generations they might pass down some genetics to deal with it? Would be interesting to see... making faster growing plants would help everyone.

Yeah i guess, just a thought, but just to be clear, lowering the hours of light will also affect the yeild if not more.

Too make bigger buds wouldnt it rely on photosenthysis on how much light to allow for better growth of the bud ?? My Plants seem to gather energy during the day and do their growing at night... I thought that was kinda funny at first but I measured my plants from lights on to lights off and found no growth whatsoever.... Then I measured them in the morning and found they grew like 1 to 2 inches in the night... I thought that was kinda wierd but that is just the way mine grow for some reason... Does anyone elses grow like that or do they all grow like that...

I would think they all grow when its dark but also when its light but probably more when its dark because the sugar that they made can be used at night.

I think My first plant might grow more bushy during the day but the heighth definately comes from the night... I measure once in the morn. and once in the evening. No diff from those times but from the evening to the morning , always at least one inch of growth... but she is in the flower mode too though, maybe that makes a diff.

Thats kool .... That is something Ive not ever looked up before but found it to be a very interesting subject to learn about in the past few days... I guess that is why the plants need more wattage during the flower period to give more photosenthysis to feed the plant more energy to feed on at night while it has all that extra time to use the energy up.... hmmm... I might have a few ideas later on to try to a new grow..... :)
