Super short Plant and Flowering---Male :( ???

I think i have a male plant in my grow. This is my first grow and the plants were transplanted a week ago into the 5gal deeps that their in now. One of them decided to start flowering and i believe it is a male.
The plant is no taller than a shampoo bottle. Is this right for a first grow. I didn't use the correct light until a week ago as well. I now have a 250hps on them and this one plant took off and started but my other 2 are still in veg i believe.

Sorry no steroids. Im just using a nute in a white rectangle bottle that says Micro 4-0-0. I did leave them in their smaller containers though for a long time like 3 months. I thought that the plant needed to be taller before transplanting but i was wrong and it needed room to grow in order to become taller.
I dont know why it is so short and starting its flower process or whatever that process is called for males. I hope my other 2 still grow before flowering.

your correct, its a male. Did you flip the cycle to 12/12 or did it start flowering on its own?

It just started flowering on its own. I thought that whenever the plant was ready to flower it would. I didn't know that you can "MAKE" it start flowering.
Can you do that? How.

Are you inside or outside? a plant flowers based on the light cycle. their are 2 stages of growing, veg and flowering. You want and need long days(24/0,20/4, 18/6) for veg and short days for and to trigger flowering(12/12).

I am doing this inside. I dont really have a set time for my lights. I turn them off when i go to bed around 11pm and i turn them on when i wake up around 7am. I i guess i am giving them light for about 16 hours on a daily basis.

yeah thats no good at all wut happens when you get hung over and dont wake up till 1pm? get a timer its like 8 bux set it to 18 on and 6 off .......... at least you got a male out consider it a blessing from the weed gods..........and why would you transplant them was it a space issue? why transplant if you can just start with a big pot and avoid the shock

Because its easier to water than a small plant in a big pot.

why is that? not being sarcastic or anything............. its pritty easy to water my plants wont you have to water them more frequently

yes, but it works better for root system development to have the wet dry cycles like that instead of only watering once a week.

id take it out the cup in 1 week

sometime between 1-2 weeks is normally when i transfer from the starting container to the next stage, 1 gallon containers, 4 weeks later i transplant to the final one 3 gallons. I've been thinking lately of working in another transplant into 5 gallon bags and see if it makes as much of a difference from when i went from using 1 gallon final pots to 3 gallon final pots.
