hello, i'm new to site with a good 10 yrs under my belt, still don't know shit. anyways i can't find any good info on this lighting question. i grow at 24 for veg and 12/12 flower. i have 3 questions.
1. is 18/6 or 24 better, power cost dosn't matter ? personally i get better results with 24.
2. is there A better LIGHTING SCHEDULE ? ANSWER ONLY IF YOU HAVE DONE IT PERSONALLY.. no bullshit like "i heard this one guy did a blah,blah" first hand knowledge ONLY.
3. i "heard" about 14-16 hours "on" for the last 2 weeks made a big differance in yield, in a good way.. again any first hand knowledge only, well with question 3 i'll take 2nd hand or pictures with journal as 1st hand. lol

i know dj short uses a "secret lighting schedule" because he talks about it in his book (a must read) ...HOWEVER he says its a trade secret...THATS WAY I BOUGHT THE FREAKIN BOOK... TO LEARN HIS SECRETS... anyways please no quick "no proof" answers... lets hear from first hand EXPERIENCE.

jeorge cervantes book SAID your plant needs no more than 18,but with florescents id go 24

im using a 1000whps in veg now small babies under 3" running my light 14 on ,,,i might add an hr when thier a little bigger

in a thread i created people said 20/4 was the best for veg, but I'm about to start my first grow, so no first hand knowledge (maybe that breaks your rule hah)

I use 24 hours and ive noticed the last time i did 18-6 that i got less growth but less stress after switching to 12-12.. i dont know if it makes a difference but For me 24-7 then straight to 12-12 has worked great... i use flouro cfl combo

I've tried all variations of light schedules and found that it depends on the plant. Some really do seem to do better with some sleep, the plants I'm growing now are a heavy sativa and they visibly droop when it's time to sleep, and perks up when it's time to wake up. When I tried 24/0 on it growth was not as fast, an obvious difference. Other strains have done the opposite or you couldn't tell a difference either way.
