Super Lemon Haze.... WTF :-(

long story short... first time grower I ordered 10 feminized super lemon haze seeds from Attitude. FF nutes DWC hydro for clones (the whole FF nute line), ocean forest soil for moms (decided to flower some of the slower growing moms as I only want to the best growers as moms). 400 watt ceramic metal hallide for bloom ... t5 for veg.

Here is my concern:

Im about 3 weeks into flowering and Im a bit dissappointed with the variety of some of my plants. The variety lookswise is really diverse... and im concerned that I got a messed up batch of seeds. Some of them are stretchy and sativa looking (what I would expect from SLH) while others are bushy and indica looking. Some of them are over 5 feet tall and others are barely 4 feet tall. the leaf shape looks different on a bunch of them as well.

Is this much variety typical when growing from seed? did i get ripped off in that these seeds are not realy super lemon haze? forgetting about the asthetics of the plants for a sec, will the bud be very diverse from plant to plant even though they are all supposed to be SLH?

Im planning on keeping only the most sativa looking moms and flowering the rest. Is this a good idea? Or can I not tell the quality of the plant from looks alone...
please advise
T

I dont post photos on net.. sorry call me paranoid.. ;-/ Is a lot of variation common when one grows a strain from seed? Ive heard rumors that Greenhouse seeds is notorious for not having very stable strains..

You already said that you are growing, in a court of law that's admission of guilt. Seriously photos won't do you any less damage. Secondly I doubt the DEA would waste their time tracking down someone who is growing 10 plants.

well recognise that in not posting photos you'll get significantly less accurate answers because it's hard to judge something without looking at it. not all plants grow the same. some of the soil may have more nutrients in one pot than the other, some plants may be getting more light than the others, explaining the lanky vs bushy issue. there are a lot of variables that cause plants to grow differently, not all of them will look exactly the same because they're the same strain.

Yes with seed you will get a variety. Genetics is a dice roll at best. More stable breeds will breed more true than newer strains, but you can take seeds from the same plants(edit: plant, just noticed they were fem'd) and get multiple phenos. Selection is the name of the game. Take clones, smoke all the ones you have, find the ones you like best(or one) and perpetuate that.

Planting 10 seeds is not going to get you 10 identical plants. So yes variety is common with seed, take your time, sample the potential mothers and choose the best one.
