Well I've got a dense bush right now, looking beautiful with strong growth! Just about 6 weeks in..

Well at 3 1/2 weeks, I tried to super crop the main stem.... She was so short and fat..Damn I really snapped it! Don't think I exposed the center on the stem but I definitely broke her over and it wasn't pretty.... I let her be and she has formed a thick knuckle there.. I'm working with bag seed that looks like 100% indica..I'm hoping she is actually a she.. But do you guys think the brutal super cropping stressed to the point of doom? I'll post pictures later on

i've snapped stems almost completely off. taped them with painters tape and lo, three days later there was a calous. i'm tellin you, the plant has an amazing capacity to survive.

when you displace those hormones, all kinds of things can happen. i topped a super silver, and i topped it to low. now it only grows sideways.

i definitely need to do a LOT of learning about topping, but i have created some monsters.

i stopped to look for one picture in particular, but i cant find it :(

basically, i kept fimming the fim on a big buddha cheese and then i kind of lollipopped it, and i ended up with a five foot tall plant with 16 decent size top colas on it, but they were really tight . the diameter of the canopy of this plant was no wider then the tomato cage it was in.

im gonna find that pic. i hope its somewhere online. or on my other camera.

yah. BBC grows fast, and the stems are not the best. its a plant that WILL NOT support its own weight.

NEVER snap main stem.
Long before some internet guy invented the (ridiculous) term "supercropping", indoor growers use to DELIBERATELY crack the plants main stem to reduce its overall height and promote budding of side branches. Not only have I seen it done successfully many times, it actually works pretty well.

So long as you don't completely sever the stem (and in some cases even if you do!), the plant will just scar over and continue to grow. Yeah, it will slow down its growth for a day or two.

As my Dad used to say, these plants are prertty tough, they're used to make ROPES!

Nice one.

This is one reason why some indoor growers put oscillating fans in their grow rooms. The constant back and forth motion "exercises" the stems and toughens them up, allowing them to support heavier buds.

You can accomplish the same thing manually by bending the stems back and forth along their lengths, when the stems are still young and forming. In this case, no, you don't want to accidentally snap them! Bending the stems makes them grow "woodier" so they become stronger and able to support heavier buds on top.
